The Purpose of the Role

As the IRC continues to expand its global scope, influence, and programming at a time where crises are becoming more protracted, the need for flexible funding from private donors and philanthropists is greater than ever. We have seen this take shape through the development of the External Relations department, increased fundraising targets, and newly ambitious programs developed to shift the humanitarian aid sector, such as the Movement Against Malnutrition. This role will serve as a lead fundraising campaign primarily for our Movement Against Malnutrition campaign and our Biz Case 2.0 campaign. The position reports to the Vice President, Philanthropy with management in partnership with the Executive Director, Movement Against Malnutrition. The position works collaboratively with and is accountable to all high-value teams (including Global Corporate Partnerships, Global Foundations and Trusts, and GPPS) in support of our campaign goals.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

Movement Against Malnutrition (90%)

· Develop capital campaign strategy, budget, and framework for Movement Against Malnutrition

· Track financial progress to goals

· Develop campaign materials for cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship

· Support Executive Director, Malnutrition campaign and Movement Against Malnutrition leadership team working within Fundraising function

· Collaborate across HV teams to lead and support on individual donor engagement strategies

· Outline and manage campaign budget

· Conduct feasibility study of high capacity and high affinity donors

· Recruit and engage campaign co-chairs

· Build prospective donor gift pyramid

· Outline timeline of gift solicitations, both in the “quiet” and public phases of campaign

· Create case for support, including pitch sheets, appeal letters, and proposals

· Produce public campaign launch plan

· Create stewardship and donor recognition plan

Deliverables expected after one year’s work:

· Seed and core funding to be raised for Movement Against Malnutrition

· Campaign strategy and plan for subsequent Movement Against Malnutrition fundraising

Business Case 2.0 (10%)

· Support Business Case 2.0 leadership team with fundraising strategy and execution

· Collaborate across HV teams to lead and support on donor engagement strategies

Deliverables expected after one year’s work:

· Core funding to be raised for Business Case 2.0

PERSON SPECIFICATION

· Progressive non-profit fundraising experience and demonstrated expertise in ultra-high-net-worth individual fundraising.

· Previous experience with fundraising campaigns with goals at the 8 or 9 figure level

Preferred Experience & Skills:

· Proven track record of securing 7 and 8+ figure gifts;

· Knowledge of U.S. and international philanthropic landscape and trends

· Excellent oral and written communication skills;

· Ability to interpret a broad vision and translate it into actionable steps to drive projects forward;

· A high level of energy, self-confidence, initiative, and follow-through;

· Ability to work effectively in a team environment as well as take initiative independently;

· Demonstrated database management skills;

· Excellent organizational and time management skills;

· Ability to multi-task in response to shifting priorities and commitment to respect and maintain confidentiality of donor information
