Overview

Review and edit the Portuguese Handbook on Prevention of Sexual Exploitation and Abuse.

You have:

  • Previous experience in Portuguese reviewing and text editing.
  • Familiarity with MS Office Word tools.
  • Familiarity with UN terminology is an asset.

The online volunteer will review, edit and format the Portuguese Handbook on Prevention of Sexual Exploitation and Abuse. The document is 49 pages long in .Word format (including boxes, footnotes and end notes). The online volunteer will review the written text, and format the whole handbook according to the Introduction module (pages 1 to 7). It should follow the new grammatical agreement for the Portuguese language. The supervision will be organized online (via Mail and/or Zoom). Key words will be provided. We expect to have the translated document by end of July the latest. Due credit will be given to the online volunteer.

    UN Volunteers have to complete a series of mandatory courses during onboarding and first weeks of service. The mandatory courses are currently available in English, which can be a hindrance, especially for UN Community Volunteers. With the contribution of the online volunteers, newly recruited UN Volunteers in Brazil and other Portuguese-speaking countries will have access to the content of mandatory United Nations (UN) e-Courses in Portuguese. As a result, it all will contribute to our Diversity & Inclusion agenda in UNV Brazil.

  • 1-5 hours per week / 3 weeks

    Candidates must have previous experience in Portuguese reviewing, text editing and MS Office Word tools. Familiarity with UN terminology is an asset. As part of the selection process, shortlisted candidates can be asked to take a sample reviewing assessment.
