This is a UNV International Specialist contract. This kind of contract is known as International UN Volunteer. It is normally internationally recruited only. More about UNV International Specialist contracts.

In the last two years, UNICEF Algeria has had a record-breaking year for public sector fund-raising allowing for perseverance and deliverance of strong programmatic results for chil-dren. This implies that the country office has a higher load of reports due to strategic partners and it is crucial that UNICEF Algeria is able to submit high quality reports that reflect what was achieved.

Under the direct supervision of the Representative as part of the Advocacy, Communication and Partnership (ACP) Unit and in close collaboration with the Deputy Representative, the UN Volunteer will undertake the following tasks:

• Prepare Grant analysis, donor profiles and briefing notes in preparation of meetings and/or relations with donors. • Update and maintain information on all donor and programme reporting require-ments and templates. • Provide section chiefs with regular updates on these requirements and follow-up as required to ensure the timely inputs of reports to donors. • Assist in the Resource Mobilisation Working Group Taskforce and maintain an up to-date Fundraising matrix and the reporting status. • Develop a system for centralized recording and monitoring system of the Country Office fundraising activities. • Provide quality assurance of reports. This includes gathering of information, consol-idation, editing, layout and branding of all required reports which include ad hoc proposals, donor interim and final reports and specific thematic reports. • Ensure donor reporting SOP are followed. Ensure the templates, donor conditions and final version of reports are properly saved and shared with relevant staff. • Support Office reporting requirements and other ad-hoc requests in reporting by edit-ing and preparing quality reports across programmes. • Keep track of report due dates and work in collaboration with programmes to follow-up and ensure timely reporting. • Ensure the editing and the production of quality proposals across areas and donors. • Ensure the primary level of quality assurance before submission to the Management which consist of:

  • For donor reports: verifying the coherence of reports with related project pro-posals and previous reports, as well ensuring the report is written accordingly to the RBM (Result Based Management Approach) and other key elements as per the established check list

  • For project proposals: ensuring the report is written accordingly to the RBM (Result Based Management Approach) and integrating the key elements listed in the check list for donor reports, verifying the budget calculations and the al-locations of percentages for salaries of staff responsible for the implementation

• In close collaboration with the Advocacy, Communication and Partnership (ACP) Unit, ensure that the necessary visibility requirements are communicated to the sec-tions and collected timely for reporting and other such purposes. • Ensure inclusion of human-interest material in donor reports. • Conduct research and maintain up-to-date information on donors for UNICEF CO’s advocacy and resource mobilization information and use. • Update and prepare briefing notes and presentations for the donor meetings and field visits as required. • Provide training and technical assistance, as required, to staff and partners to im-prove the overall quality and consistency of reports (focus on English language ca-pacity training). • Perform other assigned duties and responsibilities related to donor reporting, fund-raising and donor relations Furthermore, UN Volunteers are required to: • Strengthen their knowledge and understanding of the concept of volunteerism by read-ing relevant UNV and external publications and take active part in UNV activities (for instance in events that mark IVD); • Be acquainted with and build on traditional and/or local forms of volunteerism in the host country; • Reflect on the type and quality of voluntary action that they are undertaking, including participation in ongoing reflection activities; • Contribute articles/write-ups on field experiences and submit them for UNV publica-tions/websites, newsletters, press releases, etc.; • Assist with the UNV Buddy Programme for newly-arrived UN Volunteers; • Promote or advise local groups in the use of online volunteering, or encourage relevant local individuals and organizations to use the UNV Online Volunteering service when-ever technically possible.

Results/Expected Output:

The incumbent is expected to: • ensure that internal UNICEF Algeria and external donor reports are produced with high quality and in a timely manner; • analyze different donor reporting requirements and assist programme officers to meet donor expectations ; • support conceptualization and drafting outlines for project proposals and donor briefs. • work closely with Deputy Representative and UNICEF programme officers on annual report preparation and other country programme documentation (policy briefs,fact sheets etc.) and assist the development, consolidation, drafting and editing of English-language; • promote and build capacity on results oriented reporting at project and programme lev-el through training and sharing of best practices and lessons learned • A final statement of achievements towards volunteerism for development during the assignment, such as reporting on the number of volunteers mobilized, activities partici-pated in and capacities developed.

field related to communications, external relations, liaison and/or any resource-mobilization related activities, preferably in an international organization. • Advanced ability to express clearly and concisely ideas and concepts in written form; specific skills in report writing and editing. • Knowledge of another UN language considered as an asset

The position will be based in the capital, Algiers, where basic living needs, including accom-modation, banking facilities, medical facilities and telecommunications/internet services are readily available. All staple foods can be found in the markets, e.g.: rice, meat, vegetables, fruit, cooking oil, salt, etc. Many imported goods are available in Algiers and other places throughout Algeria. Algiers has many good restaurants with good health standards and most guesthouses provide food. In Algeria the most used means of transportation are taxi or local bus. Mobile phone is the most dependable tool to be in-touch with colleagues and friends. Internet service is readily available and affordable at most apartment complexes..
