To continue MDF's mission and objective in supporting the community development in PNG, MDF wish to apply for funding to extend an existing conservation area to support the local landowner group in Papua New Guinea. To do so, MDF is required to map a proportion of land as part of the funding requirement.

To that end, MDF is seeking the support of online volunteers through this assignment where the task involves mapping using google earth and identifying each location using the support provided by the contact person for the foundation.

The Foundation needs the support of Online Volunteers who have knowledge and qualification in remote sensing with the use of the Google search engine to map an indigenous customary land in Papua New Guinea.

The three volunteers recruited will have the specific role. a) Map using google earth b) Map the area using a suitable GIS application and compare google earth map c) Review the work and provide advice and recommendation

The first volunteer will use Google Earth to pint point the exact area if interest while the second will use Landsat images while the third volunteer will do remote sensing and identity changes that may have taken place in the project site between 2000, 2010 and 2023.

  • GIS mapping, remote Sensing, proposal writing, water quality testing analysis and presentation.
  • LIDAR, ArcGIS Mapping, Landsat and the use of Google Earth.

PhD student in Remote sensing and Proposal Writing are encouraged to apply.
