Morobe Development Foundation Inc. is a not-for-profit organization based in Papua New Guinea and was established to promote sustainable community development initiatives and thereby address several exigent issues – ranging from environmental conservation to women's rights – that are hindering the progress of the country. Few of our ongoing projects focus on applications of various remote sensing technologies for monitoring forest biomass, tracking land use land change patterns, evaluating climate change impacts, and conserving sea turtle habitats. We are currently looking for three online volunteers who can be able to carry out research online and map nine districts of Morobe Province, to identify where Gold is found and document it accordnigly.

The task simply involved communicating regularly with the contact person for MDF and getting directions and directive, provide recommendation and advice. The volunteers will be required to carry out literature review identidying soil and geological profile of the study area and identtfy potential mining sites as wella s carry out remote sensing on the study area, plot the results on ArcGIS and produce a report consequantly as per the findings. In many instances the report can be converted and published accordingly in any reputale journal for the general public and future researchers.

The ideal candidates should have demonstrated writing experience and have a master’s degree or equivalent (e.g., bachelor’s degree with 3+ years) in an area related to soil mapping, geology and remote sensing, or related fields. Must have good communication and be very attentive, responsive, and proactive, as our projects are very fast-paced.
