What we do

The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) works worldwide to provide protection and humanitarian assistance to people affected by conflict and armed violence. We take action in response to emergencies and, at the same time, promote respect for international humanitarian law. We are an independent and neutral organization, and our mandate stems essentially from the Geneva Conventions of 1949. We work closely with the National Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies and with their International Federation in order to ensure a concerted, rational and rapid humanitarian response to the needs of the victims of armed conflict or any other situation of internal violence. We direct and coordinate the international activities conducted in these situations.

Purpose

The Regional Reward Partner is a key contributor within the Reward Centre of Expertise (COE) and plays a crucial role in driving the organization's reward strategy and delivery. By providing specialized subject matter expertise and guidance, this position ensures the alignment of reward practices with the organization's evolving needs. Responsibilities include collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to develop practical approaches to policy definition, delivery, education, compliance, and consistency.

The Regional Reward Partner supports designated regions by working closely with HR and stakeholders to optimize various components, including base pay, mobility, job architecture, recognition, retirement and savings, life and disability benefits, health and welfare, and other supplementary benefits.

Main Duties & Responsibilities

Partnership & Accountability:

  • Own all reward-related matters for assigned regions, including managing major programs such as the Annual Salary Review.
  • Cultivate strong partnerships internally and externally to enhance understanding and provide valuable expertise to stakeholders.

Policy Effectiveness:

  • Oversee the efficiency of existing initiatives, policies, and procedures, recommending revisions to improve simplicity, consistency, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Ensure alignment with reward best practices and organizational objectives, staying abreast of market trends through participation in external reward surveys and networks.

Reward Delivery:

  • Implement relevant reward components that are aligned with global and local contexts, ensuring compliance with local legislation and agreements.

Education and Awareness:

  • Enhance stakeholder knowledge of the reward portfolio through educational initiatives and awareness building, collaborating closely with HR.

Project Leadership:

  • Lead or participate in projects as required, demonstrating proficiency in project management and change implementation.

Reporting Line

  • The Regional Rewards Partner reports directly to the Head of Compensation.

Scope, Impact & Relationships

  • This role encompasses regional and functional responsibilities, impacting various facets of the organization.
  • Internally, it involves interactions with individuals and specialist functions across all organizational levels.
  • Externally, the position involves engagement with counterparts in other non-profit organizations and HR service providers, contributing to broader industry dialogue and collaboration.

Education and Experience Required

  • Minimum degree qualification, preferably in HR, Finance, or a related field.
  • 7-10 years of experience in HR/Finance, with at least 5 years specializing in Compensation and Benefits.
  • Prior experience in humanitarian non-profit organizations or large multi-country organizations is preferred.
  • Proven track record of leading complex projects and driving change efficiently.
  • Strong analytical skills, with proficiency in research and digital tools.
  • Familiarity with labour relations and regulatory compliance related to rewards.
  • Ability to anticipate issues, present compelling recommendations, and work both strategically and tactically.
  • Excellent organizational and mentoring skills, with a high tolerance for ambiguity.
  • Fluency in English is required, with proficiency in French being a strong asset and proficiency in Arabic and/or Spanish desired.
