Job Description

Job Title: PSS Worker (operatore/operatrice d’appoggio)

Program: Italy

Location: Metropolitan City of Milan

Type of contract: Co.co.co

Type of employment: Part-time (10 hours per week)

Duration: 4 months (with high possibility of extension)

The PSS Worker (operatore/operatrice d’appoggio) will be based in Milan and contribute to IRC MHPSS response for refugees from Ukraine. The PSS Worker (operatore/operatrice d’appoggio) will be supporting the implementation of both focused and non-focused PSS activities for women, children and adolescents, as well as work closely with the MHPSS & GBV Expert in identifying and supporting vulnerable refugees through individual counselling sessions.

The PSS Worker (operatore/operatrice d’appoggio) is expected to be available 10 hours per week, as per IRC activity schedule, with the possibility to increase them according to program needs and actual workload.

The position will report to the Senior Project Officer and will receive additional technical support from the MHPSS & GBV Expert and IRC Technical Advisors.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities:

- Support IRC staff in outreach activities to identify and engage refugees fleeing Ukraine in Milan;

- Support IRC staff in conducting Mental Health, and Psychosocial needs assessment of individuals and their families, in collaboration with IRC caseworkers and under the supervision of MHPSS & GBV Expert;

- Closely work with MHPSS & GBV Expert to respond to the clients’ identified needs by facilitating specific psychosocial individual level interventions and/or group activities (contextualized, adapted and appropriate to each one’s specific needs and capacities);

- Maintain close coordination and collaboration with the IRC team and attend monthly supervision calls.

Reporting Lines

Position directly reports to: Senior Project Officer, IRC Italy

Expected Travel

This position is based in Milan.

REQUIREMENTS:

- The qualified candidate must have a technical diploma or degree in social work, psychology or a related mental health field;

- Working experience in MHPSS activities with Ukrainian population, experience in Italy is an asset;

- Knowledge of tools for assessment of the Mental Health and Psychosocial Wellbeing of Children and Women;

- Cultural awareness and sensitivity;

- Personal qualities: Team player, flexible, well organized, network-builder, able to handle pressure well and work in cross-cultural setting;

- Fluency in English and Ukrainian is a must. Italian is an asset.
