Contract

This is a UNV contract. More about UNV contracts.

Morobe Development Foundation Inc. is a not-for-profit organization based in Papua New Guinea and was established to promote sustainable community development initiatives and thereby address several exigent issues – ranging from environmental conservation to women's rights – that are hindering the progress of the country. Few of our ongoing projects focus on applications of various state-of-the-art technologies (such as remote sensing and machine learning) for monitoring forest biomass, tracking land use, land change patterns, evaluate climate change impacts, and conserve sea turtle habitats.

To continue MDF's mission in carrying the above mentioned projects, MDF requires advisory support from expert online volunteers where the advise will allow MDF to expand its partnership and scientific outreach activities (e.g., publications); and extensively to reach out to more potential donors.

To that end, we are currently looking for 2 Online Volunteers with experience in climate change , who can help us in writing advise related to the field of Environmental Science, Forestry, Climate Change, Remote Sensing, Ecology, Social science, or any related fields.

The Online Volunteers are expected to dedicate approximately 16-20 hours per week to carry this assignment. The task falls in line with MDF's aim and vision to carry out awareness and projects addressing climate change in Papua New Guinea, and will contribute in advancing SDG no.13.

MDF requires the support of two volunteers who can provide advice on climate change policy and help draft MDF's policy on climate change. The online volunteers will be communicating with the focal contact person for MDF to ensure the task is completed and they are certified accordingly.

Selected Online Volunteers are expected to work under the supervision of subject experts to provide a good advise.

Upon completion of the assignment, the Online Volunteers will also be awarded with certificate of appreciation.

Candidate must have experience in developing climate change policies, PHD students are encouraged to apply.

The ideal candidates should have demonstrated skills in report/grant advise writing and have a Master's degree or its equivalent (Bachelor's degree with 2+ years experience) in an area related to Environmental Science, Forestry, Climate Change, Remote Sensing, Ecology, or other related fields.

Must have good communication and be very attentive, responsive, and proactive, as our projects are fast-paced.
