Call for Emergency Employment – Protection Team Leader

Danish Refugee Council, one of the world’s leading humanitarian NGOs, is currently looking for emergency employee as Protection Team Leader.

About the Job

Responsible of DRC activities in the protection sector including: PSS, legal aid, case management and GBV.

Management of the technical team in a defined area of intervention and ensure strong quality and timely delivery of the activities as agreed per the work plan and budget and in line with DRC process.

Sector responsibilities: Advocacy for the rights of displaced people in their context of displacement, individual protection assistance based on vulnerability, legal aid, sexual and gender-based violence prevention, registration services for refugees, monitoring of rights and rights awareness-raising.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Team management: responsible for the recruitment, performance management, day to day management of the protection officers and assistants working in the area
  • Coordination with External relations: responsible to ensure updated service and actors mapping in the area of intervention, good relations and strong coordination with local actors from Humanitarian and non-humanitarian field.
  • Coordination with DRC departments: responsible to ensure strong coordination with DRC departments including other program sectors (Livelihood, NFI distributions, CVA, Shelter and TSS) and support departments (Finance, Log, HR/ Admin, Compliance), MEAL, Liaison and security.
  • Project implementation: oversee the implementation of the Protection related activities in line with the project proposal and budgets. Ensure the activities are implemented with high quality and in a timely manner, in line with DRC and Governmental’s regulations including: identification of the beneficiaries, provision of good and services, monitoring and evaluation.
  • Budget management: in coordination with the project manager, ensure the financial management of the activities including planning expenses, payments, filling and reporting
  • Logistic management: in coordination with the project manager, support the procurement planification and procurement requests. Follow up with suppliers and partners upon request. Participate in the verification of the quality provided and delivery.
  • Undertake any further duties as the line manager sees fit. The position duties are flexible to a degree to allow the candidate to develop skills they personally identify. This can be arranged in discussions with the line manager.

About you

To be successful in this role, you must have a relevant degree/diploma in, psychology, law, social sciences, community development and mobilization, international relations or another relevant field.

Moreover, we also expect the following:

Required Experience and Technical Competencies:

  • Minimum 3 years of practical experience in sector area working for an NGO or similar organization
  • Field experience with PSS and/ or Legal and/or Case management and/ or GBV
  • Experience in protection activities and/or social or health sector.
  • Experience in life skills training a strong asset
  • Field experience in the Area
  • Excellent skill in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

Languages:

Fluent Turkish or Arabic

Verbal and written English

We offer

Contract length: 3-6 Months

Designation of Duty Station: Antakya

Start date: Immediately

Salary and conditions will be in accordance with Danish Refugee Council’s Terms of Employment for Nationals.
