Danish Refugee Council, one of the world’s leading humanitarian NGOs, is currently looking for emergency employee as Protection Assistant - (GBV, IPA-SNF, Legal & PSS).

About the Job

To provide high-quality survivor centered case-management services to survivors of Gender Based Violence to mitigate the effects of GBV on individuals, and contribute to the prevention, reduction of GBV and to provide case-management services to people at risk, and to mitigate the negative of effects protection issues on individuals and contribute to the improvement of the overall protective environment.

To support the legal counseling team in disseminating relevant legal information to refugees and Turkish citizens and in supporting DRC in counselling People of Concerns (POC), accompaniment to service providers and government entities, awareness raising, as well as support to survivors of gender-based violence and other people in case-management services.

To directly provide psycho-social support to individuals and groups and PFA where needed, and to contribute to the technical direction of PSS programming, including on-going curriculum development, staff training and mainstreaming of PSS into all protection activities.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Identify and receive referrals for GBV survivors and provide tailored GBV case management, including maintaining strict protocols for safety, international and national standards and procedures, confidentiality and consent;
  • Assist in the design and Facilitation of GBV awareness raising sessions and targeted GBV campaigns;
  • Provide telephone hotline support where relevant;
  • Support the legal officer and case management team(s) with initial data intake of PoCs with legal concerns;
  • In collaboration with the legal officer, monitor developments on the legal framework and regulations developed for refugees and Turkish citizens at the area and Country level and, where relevant, translate into Arabic or Turkish
  • Support the legal officer in disseminating key legal information by interpreting and explaining procedures, legislation, and official documents to POC, and providing real-time translation for individual and group sessions;
  • Support the PSS officer and case management team(s) with initial data intake of PoCs with PSS concerns;
  • Assist in filling relevant documentation for individual POC;
  • Assist in preparing and delivering PSS awareness sessions through researching sources, preparing PPT presentations, and conducting FGDs with beneficiaries where necessary;
  • Identify PoCs with vulnerabilities and provide case management (identification, assessment, case implementation, data entry, referral, follow-up, feedback etc, maintaining strict protocols for safety, international and national standards and procedures, confidentiality and consent;
  • Ensure the maintenance and regular update of case management database and other relevant trackers;
  • Seek support from supervisor to solve complex and particularly sensitive cases;
  • Ensure timely referrals to needed services, follow up and accompaniment where needed.
  • Follow up with internal departments, service providers and government entities as per each individual POC’s action plan;
  • Assist in filling relevant documentation for individual POC;
  • Follow work plans and guidelines
  • Ensure the maintenance and regular update of case management database and other relevant trackers and maintain detailed physical case-files.
  • Develop and maintain effective working relationships, with other DRC departments;
  • Follow-up with POC through phone calls and individual meetings;
  • Ensure clear communication with beneficiaries to inform them of potential courses of action and empowering them to pursue their chosen options;
  • Ensure impartiality, and confidentiality of beneficiaries, at all times,
  • Ensuring the maintenance and regular update of case databases and other relevant trackers.
  • Develop and maintain effective working relationships, with other DRC departments and participate in protection and GBV mainstreaming across sectors.

  • Undertake any further duties as the line manager sees fit. The position duties are flexible to a degree to allow the candidate to develop skills they personally identify. This can be arranged in discussions with the line manager.

About you

To be successful in this role, you must have a relevant degree/diploma in, psychology, law, social sciences, community development and mobilization, international relations or another relevant field.

Moreover, we also expect the following:

Required Experience and Technical Competencies:

  • Minimum 1 years of practical experience in sector area working for an NGO or similar organization
  • Experience in protection activities and/or social or health sector.
  • Good knowledge of GBV issues and actions
  • Experience with administrative tasks
  • Field experience in group PSS design and implementation
  • Experience in life skills training an asset
  • Field experience in the Area
  • Excellent skill in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

Languages:

Fluent Turkish or Arabic

Verbal and written English

Contract length: 3-6 Months

Salary and conditions will be in accordance with Danish Refugee Council’s Terms of Employment for Nationals.
