Morobe Development Foundation Inc. (MDF) is committed to fostering sustainable community development within the Morobe Province by emphasizing the preservation of cultural heritage and its integration into urban planning. Recognizing the profound impact of cultural heritage on community identity and cohesion, MDF has initiated the project "Proposal for the Utilization of Cultural Heritage in Urban Development." This initiative aims to harness the unique cultural assets of Morobe Province to enhance urban environments, making them not only more livable but also economically vibrant and historically resonant.

The project directly supports MDF’s strategic objectives by linking cultural preservation with sustainable urban development. It reflects a comprehensive approach to development that values the protection of cultural legacies while promoting modern urban growth. By integrating cultural heritage into the urban fabric of Morobe Province, MDF seeks to create cities that are not only centers of economic activity but also bastions of cultural identity. This effort aligns with United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities), which emphasizes the enhancement of urban sustainability and the preservation of cultural heritage.

To achieve these ambitious goals, MDF is assembling a team of three online volunteers, each specialising in a critical aspect of the project:

One volunteer for urban planning and cultural heritage integration: Develop strategies online for embedding cultural heritage within urban development plans for Morobe Province. Identify and analyse global and local case studies where cultural heritage has been effectively utilised to enrich urban areas through online publication resources such as resources from Google Scholar or news. This strategy is embodied in text, roughly 1,000 to 1,500 words.

One volunteer for economic impact analysis: Collect online information and conduct an economic analysis to assess the potential impacts of cultural heritage integration on the local economy of Morobe Province. Focus on tourism, job creation, and the stimulation of local businesses as key metrics. Integration and review of information and data primarily using publicly available information and data on the web, with a word count of around 2,000 words.

One volunteer for community engagement records: Check and lead community engagement initiatives online to ensure that the project proposals are inclusive and reflective of the community’s values and needs. Through communication online, facilitate 1-2 workshops, 2 public consultations, and some feedback sessions to gather input and foster community support for the integration of cultural heritage in urban development. This task is mainly an online communication with MDF and the two other volunteers to make the records, assisted by MDF.

One volunteer for helping with community engagement records online; this role mainly assists with the third role of volunteer. Also, MDF will also help with the process control for this role.
