Project Officer (Climate Resilience Project)

Plan International Pilipinas Foundation Inc. is a local non-government, non-religious, and non-political development and humanitarian organization committed to enabling children to live free of poverty, violence, inequality, and injustice.

THE OPPORTUNITY

Plan International Pilipinas, supported by Zurich Foundation, launches the "Alliance for Resilience to Climate-related Climate Hazards" project. Building on their current Flood Resilience efforts, this initiative focuses on climate change adaptation strategies. It aims to develop innovative ways for communities to respond to climate impacts.

In line with this project, we invite competent, experienced, and committed professionals to fill the following position.

The Project Officer will be working with children, young people, and the wider community to help them prepare for disasters. This will involve teaching them how to assess their situation, plan and carry out activities, track their progress, and evaluate the results. The Project Officer will also focus on ensuring everyone involved feels safe and respected, and that the project benefits everyone in the community.

Further, as the Project Officer:

• You will design and guide the implementation of impactful development interventions using participatory techniques that empower communities.
• You will play a key role in gathering and updating baseline data for community profiles. You'll ensure clear communication of this data within the community.
• You will facilitate pre-implementation meetings with various stakeholders to clarify roles, establish commitments, and develop action plans.
• You will meticulously document community projects, activities, and processes to track progress and share learnings.
• You will be passionate about building the capacity of local partners, including children, in project management and resource mobilization.
• Prepared to Respond: As part of Plan International Pilipinas' mission, you may be asked to support emergency response activities in your assigned communities during exceptional circumstances.

DO YOU HAVE WHAT IT TAKES?

To be successful in the role you will need among other things:

Education:

• Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Community Development, Behavioral Sciences, Disaster Risk Reduction, or a related field.

Experience:

• Minimum of two years of experience in community organizing and development work.
• Hands-on experience utilizing participatory approaches, ideally including working with children.

Skills:

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to connect with people from diverse backgrounds.
• Strong teamwork abilities with a commitment to integrity, transparency, and proactiveness.
• Demonstrated gender sensitivity.

Additional Information:

• Must be based in the Philippines and a Filipino national.

Location: Navotas, Metro Manila

Type of Role: Project-based (until December 2024)

Reports to: Program Specialist

This role requires field work.
