World Vision Solomon Islands is recruiting for a Project Coordinator (Honiara) to support a new USG DRL-funded project that supports the meaningful political and civic participation of youth in the Solomon Islands for an estimated timeframe of 24-36 months. The project will be implemented in Honiara City and Malaita Province. The Project Coordinator will support the implementation of the new youth leadership project to be on time, on budget and on target (meeting desired outcomes) for the Honiara element of the project. S/he is expected to establish and nurture partnerships, together with the Project Manager, with the project partners, with the youth populations, as well as with the relevant Solomon Islands Government ministries, funding partners, and relevant development partners linked to youth development and leadership in Honiara. Note that this position is subject to funding.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Effective Coordination and Management of Project Activities in Honiara
  • Program Quality and Reporting.
  • Build effective partnerships with stakeholders

KNOWLEDGE/QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE ROLE:

  • 5 years of experience in youth leadership program management and implementation, and report writing, required.
  • USG program management experience preferred.
  • Previous USG “Democracy, Human Rights, and Governance” (DRG) experience. Experience can include but is not limited to working on a USG-funded DRG grant, working for a US Embassy, etc.
  • Previous experience working in youth leadership, youth and development and in particular in civics, in Solomon Islands and/or South Pacific.
  • Experience in implementing multiple youth programming methodologies and approaches.
  • Experience in report writing.
  • Bachelor’s degree in international development, politics, youth and community development, or equivalent.
  • Former US Government grant funding experience.
  • Preferred leadership experience
  • Excellent written and verbal communication - fluency in English required.
  • Thorough knowledge of youth in development in the Solomon Islands.
  • Relational skills, especially in a cross-cultural environment
  • Strong planning, organizational and project management skills and ability to prioritise and handle multiple tasks.
  • Program-related financial planning and management skills
  • Ability to work gracefully under pressure.
  • Knowledge of report writing
  • Demonstrated ability to work well with national staff and a passion for capacity building & organizational development.
  • Computer literate in Microsoft Office
  • Ability to analyse and solve problems, persuade, network and negotiate.
