How can you make a difference?

Under the supervision of the UNICEF Programme Specialist Local Implementation and in strong collaboration with UNICEF local implementation team, as well as local and county partners from Bacau and Brasov counties, the Project Assistant will ensure logistic and administrative support for the implementation of UNICEF model “ Ensuring Social inclusion : breaking the vicious cycle of social inclusion for the most vulnerable children”, as follows:

  • Provide logistic support to the Programme Specialist for Local Implementation for preparing donor reports, mainly: collecting, verifying, centralizing and archiving documentation received from 8 local partners (county institutions and mayoralties).
  • Completes the relevant annexes to the donor reports, in line with specific donor requests, following indications received from the Programme Specialist and in accordance with the current position.
  • Facilitate logistics for implementing project activities, mainly: project management monthly meetings, events, capacity building events, including prepare invitations, follow up with participants, arrange transportation, accommodation, venues, document and share meeting results, etc.
  • Participate in planning and management meetings and ensure a constant communication flow with relevant partners. Record and keep evidence of the communication with partners.
  • Prepare documentation related to project activities, and follow up on obtaining needed information from partners.
  • Check supporting documentation for payments, seek clearance and approval from relevant UNICEF staff, as established in the work processes and standard operating procedures.
  • Maintain constant communication with partners and UNICEF team.
  • Act as translator in meetings/ events, translate various documents English/ Romanian;
  • Any other task, as requested by supervisor.

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…

  • At least secondary education finalized (post-secondary education is considered to be an asset);
  • Five years of professional experience (including clerical and administrative work, or similar assignments)
  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Excel;
  • Good knowledge of Romanian and English, spoken and written.
  • Strong customer orientation;
  • Sound time management skills;
  • Ability to function as an effective team member;
  • Experience in implementing projects financed with EU Structural Funds or Norway is considered to be an asset;
  • Proven initiative and good judgement, attention to details;
  • Good analytical and communication skills;
  • Proven ability to work under pressure and strict deadlines;
  • Good interpersonal skills, flexibility, tact and discretion;

Individuals engaged under a consultancy or individual contract will not be considered “staff members” under the Staff Regulations and Rules of the United Nations and UNICEF’s policies and procedures, and will not be entitled to benefits provided therein (such as leave entitlements and medical insurance coverage). Their conditions of service will be governed by their contract and the General Conditions of Contracts for the Services of Consultants and Individual Contractors. Consultants and individual contractors are responsible for determining their tax liabilities and for the payment of any taxes and/or duties, in accordance with local or other applicable laws.

The selected candidate is solely responsible to ensure that the visa (applicable) and health insurance required to perform the duties of the contract are valid for the entire period of the contract. Selected candidates are subject to confirmation of fully-vaccinated status against SARS-CoV-2 (Covid-19) with a World Health Organization (WHO)-endorsed vaccine, which must be met prior to taking up the assignment. It does not apply to consultants who will work remotely and are not expected to work on or visit UNICEF premises, programme delivery locations or directly interact with communities UNICEF works with, nor to travel to perform functions for UNICEF for the duration of their consultancy contracts.
