The Europe Infrastructure department is a dynamic team with members in Vienna (main hub), Belgrade, Warsaw, Bucharest, Tbilisi and Kyiv, which makes investments in infrastructure transactions ranging across several sectors including power, natural resources, transportation, telecom, technology and urban infrastructure. Our geographic focus countries include Ukraine, Moldova, Poland, Romania, Bulgaria, Croatia, Serbia, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo, Albania, Azerbaijan, Georgia and Armenia.

We seek to hire an Extended Term Consultant/Investment Analyst, located in Bucharest, Romania. IFC together with the World Bank is present in Romania for over 30 years and has an operating office with roughly 70 staff. The selected candidate will work as a fully integrated member of the Infrastructure team across the IFC business cycle, with focus on client relationship management, business development, deal execution, and portfolio investment management. The geographic focus of the selected candidate will be Romania, however the selected candidate would work across all of emerging Europe.

Duties and Accountabilities:

• Create and analyze financial models; • Review and analyze historical and projected financial statements; • Conduct industry and market research and assist in IFC’s business development efforts; • Elaborate pitchbooks and proposals for clients; • Review company information and prepare reports on periodic financial statements, project progress reports, and other information submitted by clients; • Prepare documentation for IFC internal processes; • Participate in investments negotiations; and • Participate in the active monitoring of investments in portfolio companies, including monitoring of compliance with IFC financial, environmental, insurance and legal requirements.

Selection Criteria

• A bachelor’s degree. (preferably with a specialization in Finance, Business, or Economics – enrollment in the CFA program is a plus) • Experience in a financial institution (2+ years) with a proven track record (international exposure desired) • Experience in infrastructure sectors a plus • Strong analytical and problem solving skills as well as sound business judgment to identify issues and present creative and practical solutions • Ability to work successfully in multicultural and diverse professional settings • Demonstrated quantitative, financial analysis and modelling skills • Demonstrated teamwork skills • Proactive initiative taker • Ability to manage and complete multiple projects/tasks simultaneously and to meet deadlines under pressure; • Keen interest in emerging markets; • Willingness and ability to travel on short notice as required; • Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required. • Fluency in English and Romanian are required.
