UN Women plays an innovative and catalytic role in the State of Palestine since its inception in 1997 (as UNIFEM). In line with the national priorities, the work of UN Women for the period 2023-2025 is aligned with three of the Palestine United Nations Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework’s (UNSDCF) outcomes: • Palestinians have greater access to economic opportunities that are inclusive, resilient, and sustainable, including decent employment and livelihoods opportunities in an empowered private sector. • Palestinians, including the most vulnerable, have equal access to sustainable, inclusive, gender responsive and quality social services, social protection, and affordable utilities. • Palestinian governance institutions, processes, and mechanisms at all levels are more democratic, rights-based, inclusive, and accountable.

Its three-year Strategic Note supports the efforts to achieve measurable results in country in terms of four UN Women global Strategic Plan impacts (2022-2025): (SP Impact 1). Governance and participation in public life; (SP Impact 2). Women’s Economic Empowerment; (SP Impact 3). Ending Violence Against Women and Girls; SP Impact 4. Women peace and security, Humanitarian & Disaster Risk Reduction. Under the overall supervision of UN Women Special Representative and the direct supervision of UN Women Head of Gaza sub-Office, the Programme Assistant will support UN Women’s humanitarian team in programme management and stakeholders’ engagement.

Within the delegated authority and under the supervision of UN Women Head of Gaza sub-Office or his/her designated mandated representative(s), the UNV Programme Assistant will: 1. Provide Programme Management Support
• Support in organizing field visits on a regular basis to monitor and follow up on the progress of interventions activities as needed. • Gather lessons learned and best practices and share them with the UN Women the Women, Peace and Security, and Humanitarian Action (WPSHA) Team. • Draft formal correspondence, in both Arabic and English, as needed. • Take meeting minutes and draft short reports as needed. • Support organizing workshops, activities and events related to the interventions, as needed. • Support the project teams in collecting data for reporting. • Assist the WPSHA team in reviewing and preparing documentation on the procurement of goods and services, and support contract tracking. 2. Provide Financial Management Support
• Support the WPSHA team in the financial management of projects including create projects in Quantum system, prepare budget revisions, revise project awards and status; and determine unutilized funds and the operational and financial close of a project. • Prepare supporting documents for payments and financial reports. • Support in reviewing financial submissions and verification of samples submitted by partners. • Support in ensuring timely and quality liquidation of partner advances. • Provide administrative support in monitoring budget preparation and the finances of interventions; including the finalization of FACE forms. • Review financial reports as needed. • Maintain internal expenditures control system.
• Create requisitions in Quantum system; register good receipts in Quantum system; and • Assist in the preparation and follow up of cost-recovery bills in Quantum system.
3. Provide Administrative Support • Provide administrative support to the WPSHA team in the organization of events, meetings and workshops, etc. • Create and maintain files of correspondence/documents and electronically received information and ensure up-to- date filing. Maintain both hardcopies and electronic copies of the office records and reference files on various subjects. • Prepare presentation material/slides in Power-point for presentations for the meetings/workshops and keep all papers ready for meetings. 4. Provide support to Gaza Sub-office in UN Women’s engagement inside the coordination humanitarian architecture. • Support UN Women’s engagement in existing humanitarian coordination sectors and clusters in coordination with UN Women Gaza Head of Office. • Attend clusters and inter-clusters Gaza meetings in coordination with UN Women Gaza Head of Office & report back to senior management.

  1. Support knowledge building and knowledge sharing

• Participation in workshops and trainings as requested. • Supporting in the preparation and implementation of dissemination plans of knowledge products. • Keeping up to date with the latest advancement in the field of information and knowledge sharing.

• Any other related tasks as may be required or assigned by the supervisor.

The UN Volunteer will be working in Gaza.

As this is a national UN Volunteer assignment, the UN Volunteer will be responsible for arranging his/her own housing and other living essentials. The UN Volunteer will receive on monthly basis ILS 5,568.5 including wellbeing differential.
