You have:
- At least 7 years of professional experience in gender justice, women’s access to justice, and elimination of violence against women (EVAW) in conflict-affected settings.
- Professional experience with civil society organizations (CSOs) - notably women-led organizations, particularly those working on access to justice and protection.
- Excellent communication skills (oral and written).
- Excellent computer skills and strong knowledge of Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
- Demonstrated strong coordination and facilitation skills.
- Experience in data collection and tools is desirable.
- Good interpersonal and communication skills; ability to collaborate within a small team.
- Experience in supporting a team is required.
- Demonstrated experience in conducting, coordinating, and/or facilitating field-based activities, workshops, or sessions.
- Previous experience with a multilateral or international organization is an added advantage.
- Knowledge of the United Nations (UN) system is desirable.
- Experience in women’s rights issues; knowledge of relevant gender issues in the context of Palestine is an asset.

UN Women’s triple mandate, along with its global network and deep policy and programming expertise, continues to endow the Entity with a unique capacity to: (i) support Member States to strengthen global norms and standards for gender equality and women’s empowerment, and mainstream gender perspectives in other thematic areas; (ii) promote coordination and coherence across the UN system to enhance accountability and results for gender equality and women’s empowerment; and (iii) undertake operational activities to support Member States, upon their request, in translating global norms and standards into legislation, policies and strategies at country level. In the unique political and social context of the occupied Palestinian territory (oPt), UN Women has developed and implemented programs to advance women's rights, including the creation and institutionalization of systems, policies, procedures, and mechanisms for protecting women victims of violence and ensuring equitable access to justice. Building on this foundation through the Sawasya III Joint Programme “Reinforcing Equal Access to Justice for All Palestinians”, UN Women is currently supporting the institutionalization and capacity development of the justice and security sectors in the oPt. Within this framework, UN Women seeks to recruit a highly qualified UNV/Project Assistant for the Security and Justice Sectors, based in Gaza.
Under the overall supervision of UN Women Special Representative and the direct supervision of the UN Women Rule of Law and Protection Specialist, and in close technical coordination with UN Women Programme Analyst in Gaza, the Project Assistant will support the implementation of SAWASYA III joint programme " Reinforcing equal access to justice for all Palestinians " in Gaza.
Under the overall supervision of UN Women Rule of Law and Protection Specialist, and in close technical coordination with UN Women Programme Analyst in Gaza, the Project Analyst will support the implementation of SAWASYA III joint programme Sawasya III - " Reinforcing equal access to justice for all Palestinians " and Shaml Programme: Strengthening the Protection and Leadership of the Furthest Left Behind Women and Girls Survivors of Violence (Shaml): A Pathway to Peace and Security in Gaza.
The assigned UNV will undertake the following tasks, duties and responsibilities:
1) Support Sawasya and Shaml programme partners to ensure efficient and effective implementation of projects: • Support partners with the implementation of programme activities in an efficient and timely manner. • Maintain the project follow-up system for actions and deadlines. • Compile data and prepare draft reports, briefings, success stories and press releases, as requested. • Directly monitor the work of partner organizations and consultants contracted under the two programmes by arranging and/or attending meetings, workshops and activities and keeping open channels of communication and cooperation. • Provide sound advice and support to partners- to ensure optimal use of resources and strengthened coordination and cooperation. • Review and strengthen CSO partners quarterly reports. • Facilitate and strengthen joint discussions and brainstorming amongst Sawasya’s and Shaml’s CSOs partners and beyond. • Provide any other support at the request of the Rule of Law and Protection Specialist- and as needed.
2) Support UN Women’s Rule of Law and Access to Justice Scale Up in Gaza: • Support the rule of law and access to justice surge advisor assignment- by facilitating meetings, data collection and other tasks as needed and requested by the Rule of Law and Protection Specialist. • Develop progress analysis and briefs on the situation of courts, justice institutions and other related topics- at the request of the Rule of Law and Protection Specialist. • Facilitate meetings and brainstorming sessions between CSOs working on the rule of law and protection of women in Gaza- to build an understanding of priorities and needs, and keep abreast of trends, opportunities and challenges facing women’s access to justice, women’s leadership roles in early recovery and good governance in Gaza, and women-led organizations working on access to justice and protection of women. 3) Programme Operations and Administrative support: • Arrange and coordinate appointments and meetings for incoming and outgoing official missions. • Organize workshops, activities and events as well as regular project-site visits. • Assist to develop project work plans (including procurement and financial plans) and provide support for monitoring project budget in terms of expenditures according to the work plan. • Support audit and evaluation missions with coordination, follow up and presentation of information. • Create e-requisitions in Quantum for the programme and register of goods receipt. • Draft formal correspondence, in both Arabic and English. • Maintain proper filing, both soft and hard versions, of programme documents. • Support Sawasya and Shaml communication and visibility efforts in Gaza. • Attend relevant development and humanitarian coordination meetings as requested and provide documented updates on the results of those meetings and the needed follow-up actions. • Perform other duties within their functional profile as deemed necessary for the efficient functioning of the Office and the Organization. Furthermore, UN Volunteers are encouraged to integrate the UN Volunteers programme mandate within their assignment and promote voluntary action through engagement with communities in the course of their work. As such, UN Volunteers should dedicate a part of their working time to some of the following suggested activities:
• Strengthen their knowledge and understanding of the concept of volunteerism by reading relevant UNV and external publications and take active part in UNV activities (for instance in events that mark International Volunteer Day),
• Be acquainted with and build on traditional and/or local forms of volunteerism in the host country.
• Provide annual and end of assignment self-reports on UN Volunteer actions, results and opportunities.
• Contribute articles/write-ups on field experiences and submit them for UNV publications/websites, newsletters, press releases, etc.
• Assist with the UNV Buddy Programme for newly arrived UN Volunteers.
• Promote or advise local groups in the use of online volunteering or encourage relevant local individuals and organizations to use the UNV Online Volunteering service whenever technically possible.

The UN Volunteer will be working in Gaza
As this is a national UN Volunteer assignment, the UN Volunteer will be responsible for arranging his/her own housing and other living essentials from home to the site. An initial 6 months contract with subsequent contract extensions subject to availability of funding, operational necessity, and satisfactory performance. A Volunteer Living Allowance (VLA) of ILS 8,777.05 including hardship and danger allowance is provided monthly to cover housing, utilities, and normal cost of living expenses. Life, health, and permanent disability insurance are included (health insurance for up to 3 dependents), as well as Exit allowance for satisfactory service.
