Org. Setting and Reporting This position is located in the Compensation and Classification Section (CCS), Global Strategy and Policy Division (GSPD), Office of Human Resources (OHR) of the Department of Management Strategy, Policy and Compliance (DMSPC).

OHR/CCS is responsible for the operation of the United Nations Global Human Resources Centre (‘OneHR Centre’) established in 2016 to provide centralized job classification and background verification services to the common system organizations.

Under the overall guidance of the Chief of the Compensation and Classification Section, the Programme Assistant reports to the Associate Programme Officer and the OneHR Centre Manager.

Responsibilities The Programme Assistant will be responsible for the following duties: - Review and process background verification requests from client organizations submitted to the OneHR Centre within agreed-upon timelines and ensures that client organizations are kept abreast of progress made. - Assist in reviewing and processing classification requests, including provision of ICSC Master Standard rating sheets, narrative on classification decisions, and communication to client organizations, as appropriate. - Assist in the coordination of programmes/projects aimed to improve the operations of the OneHR Centre. - Serve as focal point for administrative coordination of programme/project implementation activities, involving extensive liaison with diverse organizational units to initiate requests, obtain necessary clearances, process and follow-up on administrative actions, including recruitment of personnel, travel arrangements, training, authorization of payments, disbursement of funds, procurement of equipment and services. - Compile, summarize and analyze data on OneHR Centre delivery; monitor compliance with established KPIs; draft related status reports and assist in the preparation of data presentations including data visualization, assist in updating and improving the OneHR website, identify shortfalls in delivery, budget overruns, etc., bringing these to the attention of management. - Provide general office assistance; respond to complex information requests and inquiries; review, logs and routes incoming correspondence; sets up and maintains files/records; organize meetings and workshops; and handle routine administrative tasks. - Provide guidance/training to personnel. - Perform other duties as assigned.

Education High school diploma or equivalent is required.

Work Experience A minimum of five (5) years of experience in programme or project administration, human resources, administration, technical cooperation, or related area is required.

Experience working with case-management software/systems is desirable.

Experience supporting with job classification is desirable.

Languages English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For the position advertised, fluency in English is required. Knowledge of another official United Nations language is an advantage.

Assessment Evaluation of qualified candidates may include an assessment exercise which may be followed by a competency-based interview.

Special Notice Appointment or assignment against this post shall be for an initial period of one (1) year. The appointment or assignment and renewal thereof are subject to the availability of the post or funds, budgetary approval or extension of the mandate.
