As part of the implementation of the EU post BEKOU project, UNICEF is responsible for the management of the supply chain of essential drugs to cover the 7 target HDs (Bimbo, Boda, Bossangoa Bangassou, Ouango-Gambo, Haut-Kotto, Vakaga), UNICEF is responsible for placing orders and ensuring the primary storage and distribution of drugs to the Health District level.

To this end, UNICEF, with its experience in the field, will be able to assist the Ministry of health in setting up this coordinated process for the selection, acquisition and distribution of medicines and medical assets, using its procurement platform located in Copenhagen.

To monitor the implementation of this project, UNICEF will use its staff and recruit procurement and logistics specialists as well as a pharmacist specialist in charge of Quantification and supply chain who will reports to the Chief CSD, in collaboration with the MCH-HIV specialist.

How can you make a difference?

The Pharmacist specialist (in charge of Quantification and supply chain) reports to the Chief CSD for general guidance and direction. He/ She is responsible for providing technical support to the Ministry of Health for the quantification of drugs at the national level and for the ordering as well as planning of the supply and distribution of drugs to targeted Health districts. …

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…

  • An advanced university degree (Master’s or higher) in one of the following areas is required: Pharmacy, public health, or any other relevant field of discipline. *A first University Degree in a relevant field combined with 2 additional years of professional experience may be accepted in lieu of an Advanced University Degree.

  • A minimum of 8 years of relevant professional experience in supply chain management, in managing EU projects or other partners involving procurement and distribution of primary health care drugs and/or specialized programs;

  • Excellent knowledge of drug management software, good adaptation to NTIC;
  • Flexible and persevering personality, with an analytical mind;
  • Good organizational skills and common sense;
  • Excellent writing and communication skills in French, English;
  • Good ability to work in a team;
  • Ability to manage stress;
  • Have a sense of responsibility;
  • Experience working in a developing country is considered as an added advantage;
  • Relevant experience in programme development in CSD related areas in a UN system agency or organization is considered as an added advantage;
  • Experience in both development and humanitarian contexts is an added advantage.
  • Fluency in French and English is required. Knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, Russian or Spanish) or a local language is an asset.
