You have:

  • University degree in Social Sciences, International Relations, Political Sciences, Business, Communications and Management.
  • At least 5 years' experience in development and management of partnerships and external relations.
  • Documented achievements in developing and managing partnerships preferably in emergency and humanitarian settings.
  • Excellent knowledge of English and Arabic. Working knowledge of French would be an asset.
  • Strong interpersonal, representational and organizational skills, with proven ability to facilitate collaboration.
  • Ability to work in highly complex multicultural international organizations and establish effective working relationships.
  • Experience of WHO or UN processes and procedures.

Contract

OBJECTIVES OF THE PROGRAMME

The “Partnerships” is one of three new programmatic “pillars” that make up the WHO/EMRO Department of Communications, Resource Mobilization and Partnerships (CRP). The Vision for the CRP Department is that “WHO is well resourced, actively engaged with partners and trusted as the lead, credible voice for health in the Eastern Mediterranean Region.” This vision is co-enabled by the Partnerships Programme whose strategic objective is to “Ensure that WHO’s external engagements are strategic, coherent, coordinated, transparent, risk managed and in the interest of the entire organization”. The specific objectives of the Partnerships Programme are to:

• Explore Regional and Country Offices’ potential areas for growing partnerships in coordination with WHO/HQ as relevant.

• Join and/or initiate, plan, develop, resource and closely mange partnerships.

• Monitor partnerships to regularly assess their value-added with regard to extending WHO/EMRO’s technical reach; providing visibility and advocacy; generating resources and advise senior management to inform decision-making and oversight of partnerships.

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES

1. Provide technical and operational advice to the planning, developing and implementing corporate partnership initiatives and engagements with State and Non-State partners including philanthropic bodies and UN partners with a special country focus.

2. Prepare the Corporate Partnerships Unit’s workplan; ensure its efficient implementation and monitoring including mechanisms and approaches to manage, monitor, evaluate and report the progress of corporate partnerships.

3. Collaborate with Governing Bodies, Country Cooperation & Collaboration Unit and other concerned departments and units to enhance and expand Regional Partnership initiatives such as Regional Health Alliance, Health Diplomacy, and the Islamic Advisory Group (IAG).

4. Collaborate with other CRP Units, namely Communications and Resource Mobilization to ensure harmonization of partnership strategies and plans at the regional and country levels.

5. Working closely with the SMC Programme, develop creative and engaging communications content (including visual and field-based stories), channels and platforms to increase the visibility and enhance recognition of key corporate partners and engagements to receive needed visibility.

6. Serve as the technical and coordination focal point of reference for counterparts at WCOs to assess country needs, priorities and gaps related to key countries.

7. Develop capacity building interventions and tools needed to enhance partner engagement and guide country offices’ counterparts in developing partner engagement plans and initiatives.

8. Research and analyze information to support the strategic engagement of partners at the regional level including development of case studies to demonstrate impact.

9. Produce and share progress and analytical reports as/when required to ensure that important partner engagements and developments are communicated on an expedient and efficient basis by/with relevant technical and emergencies personnel in the Regional and Country Offices and with external partners

10. Coordinate country support mission and convene partnership events at country and regional levels including strategic dialogues, seminars, and other relevant forums.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Education

Essential: University degree in Social Sciences, International Relations, Political Sciences, Business, Communications and Management. Desirable: Diploma or any additional training in business development and/or negotiation

Experience

Essential: • At least 5 years' experience in development and management of partnerships and external relations. This experience should be complemented by an excellent track record in the public and/or private sectors.

• Documented achievements in developing and managing partnerships of which should preferably be in emergency and humanitarian settings.

Desirable: At least one-year prior working experience with an international INGO or WHO/UN in a similar capacity.

• Strong interpersonal, representational and organizational skills, with proven ability to facilitate and strengthen the involvement and collaboration of a broad range of internal and external partners.

• A strong team player and independent highly motivated staff member with superior communication and negotiation skills with a track record of working at all levels of a major organization

• Demonstrated ability to work in highly complex multicultural international organizations and establish harmonious and effective working relationships, both within and outside the organizations.

Use of Language Skills

Excellent knowledge of English and Arabic. Working knowledge of French would be an asset.

REMUNERATION

Remuneration comprises an annual base salary starting at EGP 788,033 (subject to mandatory deductions for pension contributions and health insurance, as applicable) and 30 days of annual leave.
