Danish Refugee Council/Danish Demining Group (DRC/DDG) is one of the world’s leading humanitarian NGOs, working in more than 40 countries to provide adequate assistance with a rights-based approach to refugees, asylum seekers, internally displaced persons, returnees and migrants. DRC/DDG is currently looking for a highly qualified Spanish and English-speaking Grants Officer.

The onset of large mixed migration flows into Colombia due to the crisis in Venezuela requires a major integrated humanitarian response to meet the urgent needs of refugees, asylum seekers, migrants, Colombian returnees, and host communities. Based on the conclusions of several emergency needs assessments, DRC set up an emergency response in the Caribbean coastal areas of Colombia (Riohacha and Barranquilla), in Bogotá and Medellin. DRC´s integrated humanitarian response will be based primarily on protection activities, with components of Shelter, WASH, multi-purpose cash assistance, NFIs, and livelihood interventions.

Overall purpose of the role:

Under the supervision of the Grant Management Coordinator, the Grants Officer will contribute to the development of reports, project proposals and other relevant documents in line with DRC’s global and in-country programme strategy, and ensure proper grant management, incl. timely reporting of project achievements to donors.

Responsabilities:

  • Supporting Grants: Develop high quality progress reports (internal and external). Assist in the preparation of internal and external meeting minutes, presentations, working papers and activity tables.
  • Donor Compliance: Support DRC Grants Management Coordinator in ensuring compliance with donor requirements through the provision of support.
  • Aggregates all monthly qualitative and quantitative data from field bases into Country Status Report
  • Programme monthly and quarterly reporting.
  • Fundraising: Support DRC Grants in the identification of funding opportunities and the development of project proposals.
  • Collect articles, case studies, best practices across projects for evidence gathering and format so they are suitable for external audiences.
  • Conduct field visits and/or missions in-country and abroad as needed (participate in training, meetings, etc.);
  • Manage any other ad hoc task related to programme and grant management as required by the Grants Management Coordinator.
  • Contact with field bases and report findings to the programme and M&E teams, all aspects of programme monitoring and reporting, ensuring data is of high quality and produced on time.
  • Provide support and assistance on monitoring and data collection to local partners.
  • Share good news stories, and case studies via HQ DRC and in country communications coordinator- internal and external.
  • Translation of documents when needed EN/SP.

Experience and technical competencies:

  • At least 2 years of experience and knowledge of reporting and planning for, securing and managing funds. Prior working experience with local or international NGOs and/or institutional donors will be considered a strong advantage.
  • Experience working with ECHO, OFDA, UNHCR, PMWRA, BPRM, OIM, SIDA, DANIDA and other donors will be considered a strong advantage.
  • Strong grasp of all stages of programme cycle management and quality standards in humanitarian programming.
  • Excellent analytical skills with an orientation to detail; experience in distilling critical qualitative and quantitative information from complex data to inform programme performance, learning and quality improvements.
  • Well-developed report writing skills; demonstrated experience in preparing programme reports for diverse audiences, including programme management; community stakeholders; government and donor agencies.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; able to make complex data simple, able to communicate effectively with work colleagues and stakeholders.
  • Fluent in Spanish and English both spoken and written, including excellent report writing skills and experience in proposal development in both languages.
  • Good administrative and numerical skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent computer skills (MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint essential).
  • Experience in international emergency context.

Education:

Graduate level diploma/degree in International Politics, Social Sciences or other relevant field, with specializations in Monitoring and Evaluation; Project Management.
