Overview

Migrate two sub-sites from WordPress to new CMS.

You have:

  • A degree in a relevant field such as Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related discipline is preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience in WordPress and familiarity with other CMS platforms.
  • Proven expertise in content migration, CMS setup, configuration, and optimization.
  • Experience or understanding of SEO principles and their application in CMS.
  • Prior experience working in a digital transformation project environment is advantageous.
  • Previous volunteer experience or work experience in a multicultural setting is beneficial.
  • Fluency in English is required, including good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Familiarity with virtual collaboration tools such as video conferencing platforms, project management applications, and cloud-based document sharing platforms is necessary.
  • Knowledge of coding languages like HTML, CSS, PHP, or JavaScript is desirable, though not mandatory.

Our organization is undergoing a digital transformation to streamline our online operations and upgrade our content management capabilities. This migration task is pivotal to these objectives as it forms part of a larger project aimed at improving user experience, flexibility, and website performance across our digital platforms. The successful completion of this migration task will showcase the potential benefits of shifting all our digital assets into an advanced CMS, thus setting a successful precedent for future migrations.

Understanding our organization's values, current digital infrastructure, and future growth plans is essential to ensuring the compatibility and sustainability of the migrated sub-sites. The volunteers will work under the direct supervision of the KM and Communications Analyst. They will receive guidance from the project staff, to ensure alignment with the main objectives. The volunteers will be supported by project staff who will assist in research and other tasks related to the migration of these two site in their assigned area. The volunteers will be selected based on their skills and experience and will report directly to the KM and Communications Analyst.

In this task, the volunteers will be required to migrate two sub-sites from WordPress to the UNCDF.org content management system (CMS). This process involves:

  1. Evaluating and analysing the existing WordPress sub-sites for content volume and functionality.
  2. Transferring all textual, graphical, and any other content types from WordPress to the CMS, preserving the original format.
  3. Ensuring optimal performance of the migrated sub-sites, including links, SEO settings, and any other integrated functionality (e.g., online forms, comment sections).
  4. Validating successful content migration and functionality by rigorous testing of the new sub-sites.

The volunteers will communicate progress through weekly status update emails and virtual meetings hosted over Microsoft Teams. The calls will involve discussing challenges, brainstorming solutions, and sharing progress reports with the digital transformation team.

Education and Experience:
