OBJECTIVES OF THE PROGRAMME

The goal of WHO's presence in countries, territories and areas is to develop a two-way collaboration between the secretariat and countries, territories and areas, by supporting them to reach national health goals and contribute to global and regional public health action. WHO utilizes the Country Cooperation Strategy (CCS), a key element of the country Focus strategy, as a strategic management tool to create synergy and alignment between WHO leadership priorities and national health policies, strategies and plans as well as United Nations Development Assistance Framework (UNDAF). Creating this synergy and alignment will be essential to advance WHO's organizational effectiveness and ensure WHO's relevance at country level

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES

The incumbent will perform the following duties:

1- Monitor on-going shipments, pipeline information, insurance claims and other data, identify and brief supervisor of any unforeseen problems pertaining to discharge, clearing operations, deliveries, etc and recommend solutions / corrective actions.

2- Initiate clearance process which includes but not limited to timely submission of requests with relevant Ministry upon receipt of complete documents of shipments procured internationally.

3- Evaluate quality, quantity and safety of the international shipments and arrange for their distribution and delivery.

4- Manage the local procurement process and follow up with relevant project officer (s) as well as with suppliers/service providers to ensure compliance with WHO guidelines and to achieve best value for money.

5- Generate different POs i.e. Imprest and GES to accomplish assigned tasks.

6- Oversee the organization's warehouses and ensure proper storage of received goods as well as accurate data entry in LSS to generate weekly andmonthly reports.

7- Arrange for and ensure the timely delivery to local partners including INGOs, NGOs, and government departments.

8- Establish and maintain regular contacts with clearing and forwarding agents, customs, UN Agencies, NGOs and Government authorities. Followup and ensure that goods are promptly cleared and delivered to the rightrecipients and that appropriate receipts are received.

9- Collaborate with counter parts in different parts of country to make sure unified and updated stock and inventory reports are correct at all levels.

10- Provide regular and ad hoc reports on the progress and movement of shipments of goods.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Education

Essential: Completion of secondary education, supplemented by training in the field ofsupply/logistics/procurement.Valid driving license.. Desirable: University degree in business administration, logistics management or related field is an asset.

Experience

Essential: At least eight years of related experience in the field of supply/logistics and/procurement Desirable: Relevant experience in the UN system

Skills

Sound organization skills.

Stress and time managementskills.

Good knowledge of WHOsystems, procedures and practices.

REMUNERATION

WHO offers staff in the General Services category an attractive remuneration package, which for the above position includes an annual net base salary starting at USD 24,899 (subject to mandatory deductions for pension contributions and health insurance, as applicable) and 30 days of annual leave.
