Contract
This is a UNV International Youth contract. This kind of contract is known as International UN Volunteer. It is normally internationally recruited only. More about UNV International Youth contracts.
Leave no one behind (LNOB) is the central, transformative promise of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and its Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). It represents the commitment of all UN Member States to eradicate poverty in all its forms, end discrimination and exclusion, and reduce the inequalities and vulnerabilities that leave people behind and undermine the potential of individuals and of humanity as a whole.
Operationalizing the commitment to LNOB at the country level requires a comprehensive approach with a series of steps, including identifying who is being left behind and why; identifying effective measures to address root causes; monitoring and measuring progress; ensuring accountability for LNOB; and ensuring participation of those left behind in all steps and phases of policy, planning and programming for LNOB.
In Peru, the LNOB principle is mainstreamed into the United Nations Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework (UNSDCF) 2022-2024. The UNSDCF is the main instrument for planning and implementation of the UN development activities at country level in support of the implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development (2030 Agenda). In this line, the UNCT has developed collaborative action plans in areas of gender, disability, interculturality and youth to address and reinforce different aspects of the LNOB principles.
Under the direct supervision of the Leader of the RC Office, with matrix-like supervision of the Economist and the M&E Officer, the UN Volunteer will undertake the following tasks:
• Assist in the monitoring of LNOB mainstreaming in UNSDCF result groups joint work-plans, including field visits (subject to availability of funds), assessment of evidence, and identification of best practices, among others.
• Assist in the monitoring, implementation, evaluation and adjustment of the interagency workplans on gender, youth, disability and sexual exploitation and abuse.
• Support the collection, consolidation, analysis and visualization of inputs to the annual normative surveys on gender, youth, disability and sexual exploitation and abuse, re-ceived by all UN Agencies, Funds, Programmes and Offices in Peru.
• Contribute to keeping up to date briefing notes and data on the situation of vulnerable groups with risk of being left behind in Peru. These briefing notes will serve as inputs for UN Country Analysis (UNCA), horizon scanning and UNCT annual reports.
• Assist in any other task relevant to the overall objective of the assignment.

Lima is both the capital and the largest city of Peru with around 10 million inhabitants. It offers a mix of tradition and modernity. It has a vibrant food scene, beaches, parks, and cultural ac-tivities. As such, it has a history of attracting plenty of expats. The cost of living in Lima is quite high in general, but there is something for all income levels.
In terms of temperature, life in Lima is quite pleasant. The temperature ranges between 12°C at its minimum and 29°C at its maximum, approximately. Expect the warmest season between December and April, and the coolest from June through October.
In terms of urban planning, Lima offers a combination of colonial, neocolonial and republican architecture with modern structures from the 20th century. Lima faces challenges in terms of traffic and congestion. There is public transport but the safest way is to take a pre-booked taxi or your own car. It is possible to travel by bicycle in some areas and preferably during daylight hours.
Life in Lima, for the most part, is safe, but it is important to always be cautious. Even though it is becoming more frequent, violent crime is still less than in many other Latin American cities. The greatest threat you are likely to experience while living in Lima is petty theft. Beware of pickpockets at all times, especially in crowded places like buses and bars.
