Monitor and interpret human rights violations in Myanmar.
You have:
- High School Diploma is a minimum requirement coupled with five years of relevant professional experience in interpretation and/or translation.
- Excellent command of English and Myanmar languages, and possibly but not necessarily of other languages commonly spoken in Myanmar.
- Previous professional experience interpreting in one-on-one meetings, group meetings, and training activities.
- Previous working experience with OHCHR and knowledge of human rights terminology are desirable.

Result of Service
- Primary sources of information are identified and contacts are established; (timeline: throughout 7 months; deliverable: 2,000 USD) - Interviews with primary sources are conducted in languages of choice of the interlocutors; (timeline: throughout 7 months; deliverable: 5,000 USD) - Public materials of the Office, including statements, press briefings, reports, and advocacy materials, are timely translated; (timeline: throughout 7 months; deliverable: 5,000 USD) - Capacity building activities with Myanmar human rights organizations, both in person and online, are organized and delivered. (timeline: throughout 7 months; deliverable: 3,000 USD)

Duties and Responsibilities
While working in close collaboration with members of the OHCHR Myanmar Team, the selected candidated will: - Monitor media and social media in Myanmar languages to gather information on possible human rights violations and abuses as well as other violations of international law; - Identify victims, witnesses, and other primary sources of information with regard to human rights violations and other violations of international law; - Liaise with relevant members of the Myanmar Team to secure communication with identified sources; - Provide technical assistance and interpretation during formal communications with sources of information; - Support the implementation of the OHCHR Myanmar Team mandate by assisting in conducting interviews with relevant primary and secondary sources to respond to reporting obligations and referrals to UN Human Rights Mechanisms and during capacity building activities carried out by the team; - Translate OHCHR public documents with attention to terminology relevant to international human rights law, international humanitarian law, and international criminal law; - Ensure full respect of the principle of "do no harm" in every and each interaction.
Qualifications/special skills

Candidates must possess and excellent command of Englisha nd Myanmar languages, and possibly but not necessarily of other languages commonly spoken in Myanmar. Candidates must have previous professional experience in inteprteting on one on one meetings, group meetings, and training activities. Previous working experience with OHCHR and knowledge of human rights terminology are desirable.
