You have:
- Minimum of five years’ experience in managing humanitarian project at international level.
- Sound experience in working in humanitarian protection sector in complex crisis situations.
- Prior experience with Protection Information Management (PIM) for humanitarian organizations.

- Understanding of existing and new technological solutions for information management in humanitarian contexts.

The Danish Refugee Council is one of the world’s leading humanitarian NGOs, working in more than 40 countries to provide adequate assistance with a rights-based approach to refugees, asylum seekers, internally displaced persons, returnees, and migrants. In Latin America, DRC is currently working in Colombia, Venezuela, Mexico, Peru and implements regional initiatives. DRC is currently establishing a regional capacity in Latin America and the Caribbeans (LAC) headed by a Regional Operations Director (ROD) as of May 1st, 2022.
DRC is currently looking for a highly qualified Spanish and English-speaking Protection Capacity Building and Learning Specialist to implement a regional protection training programme for partners of regional, national, and local protection coordination fora in Latin America.
DRC is offering a 10-month contract (renewable depending on performance and funding) based in Bogota (Colombia) with frequent travel in South and Central America. This is an opportunity for an experienced protection professional with extensive experience in Protection programming and capacity building to support and strengthen protection capacities in South and Central America.
About the job
The Protection Capacity Building and Learning Specialist (PCBLS) will be part of the DRC LAC capacity implementing a project aiming to strengthening the humanitarian response to mitigate protection risks associated with mixed migration flows and displacement situations in Latin America. The project includes a capacity building and learning component to improve the protection analysis capacities of partners across the region. The PCBLS will organize and facilitate protection trainings according to the identified priorities of regional, national, and local protection coordination fora. Protection training curricula will be developed in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders including but not limited to international protection, Protection Information Management (PIM), protection analysis, evidence-based protection programming.
The position will be based in Bogotá and include extensive duty travel in South and Central America including the regional hub of Panama.
Main responsibilities
- Work closely with the Protection Manager to ensure that training plans are developed, budgets and timelines are supervised and kept, results achieved, and donor requirements are met.
- Ensure systematic mapping of capacity gaps and training needs in targeted Protection Working Groups/Clusters in target countries and at the regional level.
- Develop tailored protection training curricula according to identified training needs.
- Mobilize training facilitators including PIM trainers in the region.
- Ensure systematic documentation of and reporting on capacity building and training results.
- Ensure all MoVs related to this activity are systematized and reported after each training. Baseline and post training evaluation methods incorporated into the project in compliance with donor obligations.
- Organize, plan, and deliver at two regional protection trainings in coordination with internal and external keyholders.
- Coordination with key Protection stakeholders at the regional and national level
- Provide capacity building support upon the request of protection working fora.
- Document best practices.
- Other tasks assigned by supervisors.

Technical line: Protection manager, DRC protection advisors at HQ and DRC in-country and partners protection teams in South and Central America.
Required experience and competencies

- Prior experience with Protection Information Management (PIM) for humanitarian organizations. Prior participation in PIM ToT is desirable.
- Track record of delivering protection trainings using an adult learning approach.
- Experience working in diverse settings / contexts and at both the field and global level, preferably in the Latin America context.
- Knowledge and working experience with refugees and migrants in Latin America is an asset.
- Full proficiency in Spanish and English is required.

Required education
- Advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent). A relevant combination of academic qualifications and extensive experience may be accepted in lieu of an advanced university degree.
Contract length: 9.5 months renewable depending on performance and funding.
Level: G1 -Non management
This position is open to national or expatriate contracts.
Designation of Duty Station: Bogota, Colombia. Non-Family duty station - Unaccompanied
Start date: As soon as possible not later than 1/06/2022.
