The Danish Refugee Council (DRC) is one of the world’s leading humanitarian NGOs, working in more than 40 countries to provide adequate assistance and protection to refugees, asylum seekers, internally displaced persons, returnees, people on the move and local vulnerable population/host communities. In Latin America, DRC is workingin Colombia,Venezuela, Mexico, Peru and implements regional initiatives. DRC is currently looking for a highly qualified Spanish and English-speaking Information Management Coordinator for a 6-month contract (renewable depending on funding and performance) based in Bogota, Colombia.

As part of the DRC LAC regional protection program, the aim of this position is to support and enhance evidence-based protection programming and analysis amongst DRC protection teams in Colombia, Perú, Mexico, and Venezuela. The Information Management Coordinator will contribute to DRC’s protection information management strategy in Latin America including strengthening and harmonising DRC IM systems as an overall objective to enhance evidence-based protection outcomes both at the country and regional level. This is an opportunity for an experienced Information Management Coordinator to support DRC’s protection programming in Latin America.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Map current IM capacity and systems used by DRC protection teams in country programmes, protection programme information needs and gaps taking both current and medium-term future needs into account.
  • Harmonise current protection monitoring and case management IM systems to facilitate regional protection analysis.
  • Conduct an informal data protection audit in protection programmes; identity issues and make recommendations for improvement/ensuring all protection teams are consistently working to agreed standards
  • Draft an 18-month IM regional work plan for protection programmes considering global DRC Processes.
  • Support the LAC Protection Manager in delivering PIM trainings in regional and country protection coordination fora and in DRC.
  • Support the LAC Protection Manager in producing regional protection analysis.
  • Represent DRC in Regional IM Coordination meetings.
  • Map out external/sectoral/ coordination country-level and regional Information Management initiatives systems and approaches and identify possible collaborations wherein DRC can have a value-added contribution.
  • Coordinate with relevant HQ colleagues as needed.
  • Other tasks assigned by supervisors.

  • Reports to: LAC Protection Manager
  • Technical line: Protection manager, DRC protection advisors at HQ and DRC in-country and partners protection teams in South and Central America.

EXPERIENCE AND TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES

  • A minimum of 5 years of information management experience.
  • A minimum of 2 years of humanitarian field experience, experience working in protection-mandated agencies or INGOs is desirable.
  • Excellent knowledge of KOBO, PowerBi, ODK, SurveyCTO, SPSS, STATA, PowerApps. Knowledge of ProGres, PRIMERO and GBVIMS is a plus.
  • Demonstrated experience developing and delivering trainings to non-technical staff.
  • Experience delivering PIM trainings or using the PIM Conceptual Framework is desirable.
  • Highly organised and autonomous, able to multi-task and prioritize workload when necessary.
  • Excellent communication, drafting, analytical and organisational skills.
  • For candidates whose Spanish is not their native language, this position requires an advanced level of Spanish. For Spanish speakers, English at the B2 level is desirable.

EDUCATION

Advanced university degree (MSc or MPhil) in data science, information management or social sciences. A first level university degree in combination with relevant experience for this position, especially if working with DRC, may be accepted in lieu of an advanced university degree.

We offer

Contract length: 6 months renewable depending on performance and funding.

Level: G1 -Non management

This position is open to national or expatriate contracts.

Designation of Duty Station: Bogota, Colombia. Non-Family duty station - Unaccompanied

Start date: As soon as possible not later than 1/06/2022.
