BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE OF ASSIGNMENT

The Corporate Planning and Performance (CPP) Division brings together the budget and performance management units and branches into a single division. CPP establishes standards, products and services to ensure a transparent and accountable planning, budgeting and performance management function in WFP. Serving internal and external clients and stakeholders, the division provides critical support to oversight and decision-making, driving the effective and efficient implementation of WFP’s mandate. CPP works across the organization to ensure effective and efficient processes across the performance cycle (planning, budgeting, implementation oversight, and reporting). The division strives to deliver simple, clear and coherent planning to reporting services and products to its clients.

The Junior Analyst will work under the general supervision of the CPP Director and will provide a wide range of support to the Director. S/he will provide support to the Director through a combination of writing, editing, research and preparation of material for senior management, including data analysis and visualization.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES (not all-inclusive)

COMMUNICATION ACTIVITIES

  1. Support the preparation of briefing documents and communication material for the Director.
  2. Document processes and prepare progress reports on ongoing initiatives and divisional activities.
  3. Prepare talking points for the CPP Director and management team for meetings and presentations.
  4. Support in developing thematic overviews, presentations, and strategic papers for the Director.
  5. Follow-up on agreed to action points and the dissemination of recommendations and best practices from presentations, meetings, and research.
  6. Work with the division’s Communication and Knowledge Management Officers to ensure alignment with the divisional communication strategy and practices.
  7. Support additional requests as required, including support preparation of any other communications materials, data analysis and reporting requests for the CPP Director and management team members.

KNOWLEDGE MANAGEMENT AND DATA ANALYSIS: 8. Review, compile, quality check and collate information in response to queries received, maintaining accurate records as necessary. 9. Prepare periodic or ad hoc reports to support managerial decisions. 10. Develop infographics and visual aids illustrating resource management concepts and other topics to support the preparation of presentations or briefings for varied audiences. 11. Coordinate information requests and responses to those when received. 12. Perform data collection, data cleaning, data analysis and visualization of data.

13. Perform other duties as required.

STANDARD MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Degree in Business Administration, Economics, Journalism, International Relations, Public Relations, Communications, Public Administration, or other relevant field, or certifiable training in relevant trainings/courses, with additional years of related work experience. Experience: At least one year of professional experience, preferably in the International Humanitarian/Development arena. Experience producing PowerPoints, data and other materials for senior management.

Knowledge & Skills:

 Effective writing skills with demonstrated ability to write concise, well-developed materials, presentations and visuals under time constraints  Effective communication skills orally and in writing  Ability to establish priorities, plan and organise work and produce results  Tact, persuasiveness and ability to work in multicultural and diverse settings with credibility, diplomacy and discretion  Proven ability to establish and maintain good working relations with internal and external stakeholders

Languages: Fluency (level C) in English language is essential. Intermediate knowledge (level B) of a second official UN language is preferred: Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, Spanish, and/or WFP’s working language

DELIVERABLES AT THE END OF CONTRACT

1. Quality briefing materials, presentations, talking points, thematic papers prepared for the director in a timely manner 2. Responses to requests managed and/or coordinated efficiently 3. Timely and accurate support to divisional initiatives 4. Effective data visualization and infographic solutions adjusted for varied audiences.
