Result of Service The ultimate result of service will be an edited and proofread the UN Pacific Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework 2023-2027

Deliverable and approximate number of days 1. Meet UN Country Team to understand the UNSDCF for 1 working day 2. Proofread and edit the UNSDCF for 15 working days 3. Oversee the design and production of the UNSDCF for 14 working days

Work Location Homebased

Expected duration 15th August 2022 – 15th September 2022

Duties and Responsibilities The Individual Contractor will work closely under the supervision of the Head of the Resident Coordinator’s Office and in close collaboration with the Country Coordination Officers and UN Country Team (UNCT) to deliver the following results:

  • Edit and proofread the new UN Pacific Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework 2023-2027.
  • The editor will be responsible for ensuring:
  • Structural editing (Assess and harmonise material to improve organization and content);
  • Stylistic editing (Edit to clarify meaning, ensure coherence and flow, and refine the language);
  • Copy editing (Edit to ensure correctness, accuracy, consistency and completeness);
  • Proofreading (Examine material after layout or in final format to correct errors in textual and visual elements); and
  • Production Editing (Coordinating and supervising design, formatting, and proofreading stages, and ensuring integration of design and content) to the highest professional standards, including UN standards where required, ensuring clarity of language, readability, style, flow of logic, overall presentation and agreement with editorial policy and relevant style guides.
  • Convert documents and create innovative ideas for presentations using interactive tools.
  • The drafting and editing work may require some additional coordination with relevant staff.
  • Any other duties as may be requested.
  • Must be able to work against tight deadlines

    Qualifications/special skills Academic Qualifications: Master’s degree in journalism, communications, international relations, or similar fields, Experience: - At least 5 years of experience in editing, communications, journalism, and design & layout,

  • Experience writing, proofreading, and editing high-level political documents, papers, and publications,
  • Ability to effectively grasp and incorporate inputs/feedback from multiple contributors
  • Strong knowledge of the Pacific region,
  • Previous experience with the UN system or regional and international organizations. Language: Fluent in English
