Duties and Responsibilities

Org. Setting and Reporting The internship is located in the Country Office in the Plurinational State of Bolivia (COBOL), United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC). The United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) in Bolivia aims to diversify its programme within the framework of the mandates stipulated in the UNODC strategy. UNODC programme and project implementation is guided by the principles set in the framework of the Country Programme and the procedures established by its headquarter in Vienna. The Country Programme responds to the priorities of the Plurinational State of Bolivia (EPB), which were identified in close coordination with national counterparts, making the best use of the comparative advantages of UNODC in the areas of its mandate. The main objective of the Country Programme is to strengthen the capacity of the Plurinational State of Bolivia to prevent crime and respond to the interlinked threats posed by drugs, organized crime and corruption, through supporting the development of healthy, safe, just and inclusive societies with the vision of contributing to the achievement of the objectives defined in the Economic and Social Development Plan of Bolivia, as well as the achievement of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. The Programme Unit of the UNODC Country Office in Bolivia is in charge of supporting the Country Office in the management of its portfolio of projects. This implies constant monitoring, follow-up of and reporting on current projects, as well .as the formulation of new project ideas aligned with the Country Programme and with national priorities. The Programme Unit is transversal to the entire project portfolio and coordinates closely with the projects teams and with the Representative. Under the direction and supervision of the Monitoring and follow-up Expert, the intern will be responsible for supporting the follow-up and monitoring and reporting work of the Programme Unit. The starting date of the internship is as soon as possible. The intern will support the monitoring and follow-up work of the Country Office's project portfolio. He/she will also contribute to the organization, reporting and monitoring of conclusions of internal meetings of the Country Office. Finally, the intern will support the programmatic-administrative work of Drugs and Crime projects. The intern will provide support in the following areas/tasks: - Support in the elaboration of technical and financial reports of the project portfolio and the office in Bolivia. - Participate in internal meetings, and meetings with national international counterparts as well as the elaboration of minutes of these meetings. - Support the Programme Unit in the follow-up of meeting outcomes. - Assist project managers in the development of projects activities. - Support the team the elaboration of notes, reports, press releases, briefings, presentations, talking points, etc. - Provide research and analysis for the development of new projects. - Develop the translation/revision of Spanish/English documents/notes and vice versa. - Provide protocol and logistical support in events and workshops of the projects.

Qualifications/special skills

To qualify for an internship with the United Nations Internship Programme, the following conditions must be met: Applicants must meet one of the following requirements: (a) be enrolled in a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); (b) be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum Bachelor’s level or equivalent); or (c) have graduated with a university degree (as defined above) and, if selected, must commence the internship within a one year period of graduation Competencies Communication: Speaks and writes clearly and effectively; listens to others, correctly interprets messages from others and responds appropriately; asks questions to clarify, and exhibits interest in having two-way communication; tailors language, tone, style and format to match audience; demonstrates openness in sharing information and keeping people informed. The internship is UNPAID and full time. Interns work five days per week (37.5 hours) under the supervision of a staff member in the department or office to which they are assigned.
