This is a UNV National Youth contract. This kind of contract is known as National UN Volunteer. It is normally only for nationals. More about UNV National Youth contracts.

The OHCHR field presence in the occupied Palestinian territory was established in 1996 to implement the mandate of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights to promote and protect the effective enjoyment and full realization of all human rights and fundamental freedoms by all people in the OPT without discrimination. This mandate includes monitoring and reporting, technical assistance and capacity-building for the Palestinian Authority and civil society. OHCHR oPt is specifically mandated by Human Rights Council resolutions S-9/1 and S-12/1 of 2009 to monitor and report regularly on the human rights situation in the OPT, including East Jerusalem. Pursuant to its mandate, OHCHR submits periodic reports to the Human Rights Council and the General Assembly and informs discussions within other United Nations bodies. In addition, OHCHR oPt is the coordinator of the Humanitarian Protection Cluster. This UNV position is foreseen to support the monitoring and reporting function of OHCHR oPt, in particular in East Jerusalem.

Under the overall supervision of the Protection Cluster Coordinator, and the direct guidance of the human rights officer responsible for the protection cluster in Ramallah office, the UN Volunteer will undertake the following tasks: • Data Entry: Collect and accurately enter data into designated systems. • Data Management: conduct data verification and cleaning in coordination with relevant stakeholders • Data Analysis: Analyze data to identify trends and generate simple reports. • Data Visualizations: Create basic visualizations (charts, graphs) to enhance data understanding. • Assist in translating data insights into visually compelling presentations. • Documentation: Maintain organized records of data and processes. • Database Management: Manage and update databases, ensuring data integrity. • Assist the Cluster in communication and reach out with partners and stakeholders. • Support in updating partners contact in formatted lists as needed. • Provide logistical support for coordination meetings, including translation and minutes taking. • Support the electronic filing system of the Protection Cluster on shared points and drives. • Undertake other related tasks as required.

As this is a national UN Volunteer assignment, the UN Volunteer will be responsible for arranging his/her own housing and other living essentials. A Volunteer Living Allowance (VLA) of ILS 4598.91 is provided monthly to cover housing, utilities and normal cost of living expenses. Life, health and permanent disability insurance are included (health insurance for up to 3 dependents), as well as Exit allowance for satisfactory service.
