Duties and Responsibilities

The Office of Human Resources (OHR) in the Department of Management Strategy, Policy and Compliance (DMSPC) is conducting a comprehensive job analysis in the UN Secretariat. This is a prerequisite for innovating and adapting ways of attracting, recruiting and nurturing talent, including young and diverse talent. It entails ensuring that generic job profiles used in the United Nations reflect updated and forward-looking responsibilities, capabilities and skills needed in the workforce to be fit for the future. These generic job profiles set the parameters for hiring managers to publish job openings. The generic job profiles need to be inclusive and free of bias. OHR has developed a job analysis methodology to support that goal. The Individual Consultant (IC) will support these efforts by the UN OHR to provide generic job profiles (GJPs) with updated responsibilities and Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSAs) that enable the Organization to attract the broadest global talent through an inclusive recruitment. The responsibilities include: -Conduct job analysis using the methodology defined by OHR in collaboration with Human Resources teams and Subject Matter Experts to determine job responsibilities and KSAs, as well as any other elements to deliver needed generic job profiles for designated areas of expertise (e.g. education requirements, work interactions). -Prepare generic job profiles following OHR’s methodology and based on available information, including information received from SMEs for designated jobs. -Support OHR’s Human Resources team with the preparation of generic job profiles by delivering assigned tasks. -Document process for developing generic job profiles and all information needed for the development and maintenance of generic job profiles in the form and manner indicated by OHR. -Respond to queries from hiring managers, job classification experts, human resources professionals and staff at large about the newly developed generic job profiles. -Identify emerging transferable KSAs and cross-cutting responsibilities that are relevant across jobs. -Provide regular updates on the progress of work to the project manager and to other team members, as needed.
