Org. Setting and Reporting This position is located in the Central Review Bodies Secretariat, Global Strategy and Policy Division, Office of Human Resources, Department of Management Strategy, Policy and Compliance.

The Global Strategy and Policy Division serves as the central strategic authority for all matters pertaining to the management of human resources. It ensures that the Organization has the strategies, policies, frameworks and tools to attract, develop and retain a talented and diverse global workforce. It nurtures a culture of engagement, leadership and results. It provides policy, strategic and thought leadership, innovations and solutions for the end-to-end management of talent: from strategic workforce planning; talent acquisition; organizational and staff development and growth; performance management; including Organization-wide mobility and appropriate duty of care, for all Secretariat staff.

The incumbent will work under the overall supervision of the Chief of the Central Review bodies.

Responsibilities Under the guidance of the Chief of the Central Review bodies, the Human Resources Assistant will be responsible for the following duties:

1. Provide substantive and administrative support to the Central Review bodies at Headquarters as follows: - Organize meetings, arrange for proper and timely issuance of all agendas and all relevant documentation using the Inspira tool; - Review submissions received for completeness and accuracy; Follow up with appropriate department/office for additional information or documentation; - Prepare relevant correspondence concerning cases under review; - Communicate the recommendations/decisions of the Central Review bodies to departments, as required; - Provide guidance and answers to queries from staff members, department and offices, including Offices away from Headquarters on technical and procedural issues; - Maintain a tracking system and statistics for all cases reviewed by the Central Review bodies; - Research precedents, background of cases, appeals and all other Central Review body matters; prepare background documentation on facts of cases; - Assist with the review of cases for recommendation of termination of permanent appointments for CRB review.

2. Assist with the membership approval process of the new Central Review bodies at Headquarters and Offices Away from Headquarters: - Assist in organizing briefings and training sessions for new members at HQs and OAHs as required; - Assist in the development of training materials and organizing briefing and training sessions for new members; - Assist in the delivery of training sessions for new members.

3. Assist with the review and revision of processes and guidelines for the CRB for both Members and Hiring Managers to reduce the timeline, increase efficiency, streamline and simplify the CRB process. - Identify and develop, under the supervision of the CRB Chief proposals related to the streamlined functioning of the CRB; - Work on improvements to the reporting system and to the CRB Inspira module; - Coordinate meetings with HR colleagues in the IT section of the Office of Human Resources (OHR) to improve the current way the scorecard is recording the CRB process; - Participate in follow up meetings and in User Acceptance Testing to advise on enhancements made to the system.

4. Provide administrative support in the office as follows: - Compile leave plans and attendance recording; - Provide administrative support to on-going projects and reform when requested; - Assist in collecting data for GA and OIOS reports, and budgetary submissions as required; - Assist in any other duties required by the Chief of the CRB.

Education High school diploma or equivalent is required.

Work Experience A minimum of seven (7) years of progressively responsible experience in human resources management, administrative services or related area is required. Experience in recruitment and placement policies and practices in the United Nations or another international organization is required. Experience using talent management systems is desirable. Experience using MS Excel such as creating dynamic reports with PivotTables, building formulas and cell formatting is desirable.

Languages English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For the post advertised, fluency in oral and written English is required. Fluency in French is desirable.

Assessment Evaluation of qualified candidates may include an assessment exercise which may be followed by competency-based interview.
