The Position:

This position will be a driving force in providing input into and executing on a comprehensive communications strategy for Human Resources. This person will develop and execute communications plans for a variety of HR initiatives including career development, benefits programs, performance management, rewards and recognition, Diversity and Inclusion (D&I), and others. Additionally, this role will play a critical role in the development, coordination and implementation of DHR work plans, and coordinating DHR engagement with internal and external stakeholders.

You will report directly to the Director of DHR.

Job Purpose:

The purpose of the position is to coordinate and manage strategic initiatives of significant Human Resources deliverables to internal functions as well as manage highly complex special projects related to budget, work plans, risk-related items, regulatory items, communications, executive and board presentations and implementation of policies, standards, processes, and/or strategic projects. Analyzes project implementation status and provides feedback to senior managers. Works closely with the HR Leadership Team members to ensure efficient implementation of the HR work plan. The Specialist coordinates internal communications within DHR as well as outgoing communications from DHR to the organization at large and acts as the DHR Focal Point for UNFPA’s Communications Unit. The Specialist works closely with the HR directorate and other DHR stakeholders in ensuring effective operational delivery of HR services across the organization.

Qualifications and Experience:

Education:

Master’s Degree in Human Resources, Resource Management, Business Administration, Public Administration or related discipline.

Knowledge and Experience:

  • 5 years of increasingly responsible professional experience in human resources, resource management, international development work or monitoring & evaluation;
  • Strong analytical ability;
  • Proven research skills and familiarity with quantitative and qualitative methods;
  • Strong project management skills;
  • Demonstrated excellent writing and oral communication skills;
  • Superior collaboration and team skills;
  • Proven ability to gain commitments and influence effectively without formal authority;
  • Field experience is an asset.

Languages:

Fluency in English is required; knowledge of other official UN languages, preferably French and/or Spanish, is desirable.
