The Division of Human Resources (DHR) has the primary accountability for achieving the high-level result of effective and streamlined human resource (HR) policies, procedures and quality advisory support to develop and maintain a flexible, highly skilled and motivated workforce throughout the organization and ensuring effective deployment of high caliber talent to deliver better results for children. UNICEF has an extensive global presence, and strong partnerships with governments and non-governmental organizations at national and community levels. On a daily basis we work to bring practical solutions to the women and children at greatest risk.

The Talent Unit Team within DHR is a key pillar of our Talent Acquisition strategy and is responsible for the acquisition and management of entry- and mid-level talent. It manages programmes like the Junior Professional Officer (JPO) programme, the UN Volunteers (UNV) and the Internship Programme. The unit also manages the outreach and mobility function and serves as a laboratory for new talent management initiatives. This assignment is designed to support the Talent Unit Team, with special focus to the Internship Programme.

Act as the focal point for UNICEF’s Internship programme: • Assist with the implementation of a career development programme for interns • Assist with the development of networking events for interns including webinars and workshops • Assist with the onboarding process for interns providing specific guidelines for both interns and supervisors • Maintain and update on monthly basis the global report for interns • Develop articles and additional communication materials to publish through internal and external channels • Collect testimonial from interns to showcase the programme and raise awareness • Assist with the maintenance of the Internship Community on SharePoint page to provide information to interns on upcoming events and other general information • Maintain Social Network Groups for interns (Yammer/Facebook) and invite current and former interns to be part of the community • Share relevant news and posts within the groups to create awareness • Manage the internship mailbox responding to queries from internal and external clients

Additional tasks: • Support other talent programmes managed by the team, including the UNV programme and the Senior Fellows programme • Support with additional tasks as needed

HR, Admin related functions and/or partnership management

SKILLS • Proficiency with Excel and Power BI • Excellent oral and written skills; excellent drafting, formulation, reporting skills; • Accuracy and professionalism in document production and editing; • Excellent interpersonal skills; culturally and socially sensitive; ability to work inclusively and collaboratively with a range of partners, including grassroots community members, religious and youth organizations, and authorities at different levels; familiarity with tools and approaches of communications for development; • Ability to work and adapt professionally and effectively in a challenging environment; ability to work effectively in a multicultural team of international and national personnel; • Solid overall computer literacy, including proficiency in various MS Office applications (Excel, Word, etc.) and email/internet; familiarity with database management; and office technology equipment; • Self-motivated, ability to work with minimum supervision; ability to work with tight deadlines;

A UN Volunteer receives a Volunteer Living Allowance (VLA), which is composed of a Monthly Living Allowance (MLA) and a Family Allowance (FA) for those with dependents. The Volunteer Living Allowance (VLA) is paid at the end of each month to cover housing, utilities, transportation, communications and other basic needs.
