Overview

Translate document from French to English for child protection project

You have:

  • Fluency in English (preferably native) and French required.
  • Previous translation experience from French to English is an asset.
  • Background in child protection or humanitarian action is an advantage.
  • Availability to volunteer 11-20 hours per week for 4 weeks.

One or two volunteers will translate one document from French to English. The document describes a child protection project implemented in Senegal and France. The document is 75 pages long in Microsoft Word format. Because the document is long, we are willing to accept two volunteers to split the work in half. The volunteer/s will be asked to start ASAP and finish the document by the end of March (this is flexible). The volunteer/s will be able to strengthen their knowledge of human resources and child protection during the process of translation. The work of the volunteer is highly valuable and will allow to make the project details available to English speaking audiences.

    Child Protection is an Area of Responsibility (AoR) within the Global Protection Cluster. The CP AoR aims at ensuring that the efforts of national and international humanitarian actors to protect children are well coordinated, achieving maximum quality and impact. The CP AoR is seeking the support of a volunteer to make the project details available to child protection actors in English-speaking humanitarian contexts. The volunteer's work will thus be highly valuable.

    The volunteer should be fluent in English (preferably native) and French. A background in translation, child protection, humanitarian action or human resources is an advantage. Previous translation experience of translating to English from French (especially documents related to human resources, child protection or humanitarian action) is an asset. Applicants may be asked to translate a text as part of the selection process.
