Translate and proofread course materials for FemWise-Africa Network

You have:

  • Previous experience in translation (English-French and French-English)
  • Knowledge of the African Union (AU) and United Nations (UN) terminology
  • Experience in translation for international organizations is desirable
  • Availability of 11-20 hours per week
  • Commitment for 24 weeks

We are looking for two volunteers who will be available to translate and proofread 4 virtual self-paced course curriculums in support of the FemWise-Africa Network. Weekly tasks are estimated to 4000 words for translation and 30 pages for proofreading and editing. Volunteers will be expected to complete tasks with the utmost professionalism and deadlines for all tasks will be mutually agreed upon.

    United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR) is a training arm of the UN system with a mandate related to building capacities for the implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development through outcome-based training and learning initiatives. The Division for Peace strives to support the (re-)establishment of peaceful, just and inclusive societies by enabling individuals, institutions and organizations to contribute meaningfully to sustainable peace. As part of UNITAR'S commitments to advance the role of women in peace processes, this specific project is aimed at empowering members of the FemWise-Africa Network as Ambassadors for peace and security through multitrack diplomacy and mediation.

  • 11-20 hours per week / 24 weeks

    Previous experience in translation (English-French and French-English); Knowledge of the African Union (AU) and United Nations (UN) terminology and terminology related to mediation, negotiation, early warning and multitrack diplomacy is preferred. Furthermore, previous experience in translation for international organizations is desirable.
