The IRC’s Financial Planning & Analysis team (FP&A) is a critical partner in ensuring the success and longevity of the organization’s humanitarian programs, which provide clean water, shelter, health care, education and economic development support to refugees and displaced people. Responsible for leading the annual budget and forecast processes, analysing and reporting results internally and to the Board of Directors, and providing business partnership to all departments and budget owners, FP&A offers sophisticated financial insights that allow the organization to operate and expand its programs responsibly.

The Finance Analyst, Europe will support the Head of Financial and Analysis, Europe in partnering with the IRC’s European offices in Belgium, Germany, Sweden, Switzerland and the UK. The analyst will be responsible for delivering relevant financial information and insights to the organisation.

This role will be vital to drive collaboration between Europe and the broader organisation and will suite someone with the ability to work closely with colleagues in a diverse multi-cultural environment and explain sophisticated financial concepts to people without financial background.

Key working relationships

The Finance Analyst, Europe will report to the Head of Financial Planning and Analysis, Europe. They will work closely with the broader FP&A team and the European Finance teams. This role will also be the key contact for budget holders in the UK and Germany.

Key accountabilities

Budgeting and Reforecasting

· Support the on budgeting and forecasting for IRC UK in with the timetables and procedures as communicated by the global FP&A team

Management reporting

· Ensure distribution of budget holder reports is completed in a timely and accurate manner. Budget holder reports will initially be created in excel but will transition to PowerBI with the roll out of the new Finance system. This role will ensure continuity of information for European budget holders.

· Monthly meetings with relevant budget holders to ensure that they have an accurate and up-to-date understanding of their financial situation. This will require presenting data in a meaningful way and providing any required training to the budget holder on finances and finance systems.

· Support in the preparation of Management Accounts, including variance analysis on income and expenditure

· Support country finance teams in the preparation of materials for Committees and Management Teams

· Provide European Financial Information as required to the broader IRC organisation

· Provide ad hoc analysis as required by Europe Finance or the FP&A team

Ensure consistency of financial information across other systems

· Work with HR to ensure the financial coding is correct in Workday for new and existing European staff by running reports, proactively arranging meetings and sharing correct coding

Key contact for non-finance teams

- Support to Fundraising teams with financial information for proposals - Provide support and training to non-finance teams on coding and interactions with finance processes

Other Support

· Deputise for the Head of Financial Planning and Analysis Europe as required

· Provide DEC Income reporting during emergency campaigns

· Any other activities as required by the Head of FP&A Europe, Senior Director of Finance Europe or Europe Finance Leads.

PERSON SPECIFICATION

Skills, Knowledge and Qualifications:

· Finalist or Qualified Accountant (CCAB recognised body) preferred

· Experience in communicating financial information with non-financial leaders and colleagues.

· Demonstrable working experience in budgeting, finance, data analytics, or equivalent

· Excellent communication skills, with experience of explaining complex financial information in a clear and concise manner

· Strong financial and accounting skills

· Strong data analysis and problem solving skills

· Strong communication and interpersonal skills

· A proactive approach to contacting a range of stakeholders and budget holders

· Advanced Excel skills and experience using Word, Powerpoint required

· Excellent attention to detail

· Ability to build strong working relationships with staff at different levels, functions and in different locations

· Ability to work with limited supervision and productively in a fast-paced environment

Qualifications Candidates must have the right to work in UK where they will be based or in Germany.
