IRC (International Rescue Committee) Germany is looking for a

Finance Manager (f/m/d)

Berlin, or remotely within Germany | as soon as possible

full-time (40 h/week) | 2 years

BACKGROUND

Over the past 80 years, the International Rescue Committee (IRC) has developed unparalleled expertise in responding to emergencies and helping uprooted communities to rebuild. Founded in 1933 at the request of Albert Einstein, the IRC’s mission is to help people whose lives and livelihoods are shattered by conflict and disaster to survive, recover, and gain control of their future.

IRC Deutschland (IRC-DE)

The International Rescue Committee Deutschland is part of the IRC global network. IRC has been present in Germany since 2016. With the support of German and European donors, more than 100 employees are now involved in projects for people affected by crises in more than 25 countries worldwide. In addition, we implement programs with and for refugees, asylum seekers and migrants in the area of Resettlement, Asylum and Integration (RAI) in Germany, Greece, the Western Balkans, Italy and the United Kingdom. In Germany itself, IRC runs programs for the integration of people seeking protection in all 16 federal states in the areas of education, economic integration, and protection and empowerment. For this purpose, we implement about 15 to 20 projects simultaneously, partly in cooperation with partner organizations. This work is funded by a number of public and private donors from Germany and abroad.

Key Working Relationships

- Reports to the IRC Deutschland Financial Controller. - Works closely with IRC DE's and NY Accounting and Controlling team on all matters related to IRC DE figures. - Controlling sparring partner to RAI Finance Manager German Programmes, Ops, Accounting IRC DE and all Heads of Functions in Germany

Purpose of the Role

- To technically lead Controlling of IRC DE in all our financial systems (legacy SUN and DATEV, now Integra (Dynamics 365)) - To ensure transparent reporting within IRC DE (HGB, gGmbH, etc.) - To provide high-quality business support services to IRC DE daily financials as well as supporting German initiatives. - To check & control financial year-end accounts, month-end processes to preparation of audits - Creating and further development of the new and existing controlling instruments and reporting system

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

Finance

- Key business partner for department heads in preparing annual and reforecasting Operating Plan - Responsible in driving the ROI mindset across organization and reinforce the adherence to governance & control policies - Ensure appropriate financial policies, processes and controls are in place, to meet all internal financial requirements defined by Finance Lead - Support the process for production of the financial statements, manage any audits, and ensure all statutory and regulatory financial returns are completed. - Support reconciliation of inter-company account and grant balances with IRC Inc. Finance - Support Finance Lead and external auditors ensuring all queries are dealt with promptly to work towards a positive audit rating and that the management points in the auditor’s management letter are addressed - Identify risks and propose risk mitigation actions to Finance lead - Lead Controlling in implementing cash flow and forecasting, reporting and analysis to steer decision making - Take part in European networking amongst Finance to drive efficiency and share best practices - Co-lead for IRC DE's financial planning and annual budgeting in collaboration with the Finance Lead - Co-lead in the preparation and implementation of the financial budgeting and spending planning process - review and aggregate project expenditures (German programmes and CRRD) & budgets for IRC DE consolidation - Review year-to-date income and expenditure, and consult with departments to prepare re-forecasts - Provide steering information packages to the Senior Management Team, e.g. Provision of monthly management accounts, quarterly management information packs and analysis. - Produce a detailed monthly management report for review with Finance Lead, as well as commentary for managers on key variances - Responsible for periodical business & financial reporting package including analytic commentary of financial results and presenting it to Finance Lead - Co-lead development of Management Reports as required to support decision-making - Provide analysis of financial trends to support strategic planning and decision-making, including making recommendations for value for money and sustainable cost-efficiency - Ensure proper bank and treasury management - Monitor bank balances to ensure cash requirements for the Germany office can be met - Drive reconciliations between systems (e.g. on accounts payable, receivable, ICR of German programms) and bank and balance sheet accounts on monthly basis - Handle as financial business partner to the accounting team and give guidance to all reporting related standards or deviations - Review monthly expenditure reports for the IRC (New York) by sixth working day of the month - Coordinate accruals and deferrals process on monthly, quarterly and annual basis
