Job Description

Content:

- Gather, vet, condense and otherwise organize content delivered from information focal points and partners across the country for dissemination through Refugee.Info platforms and to IRC Hellas programs. - Manage and maintain social media platforms of Refugee.Info. - Coordinate with Refugee.Info Editorial and Communications Manager and Service Mapping Officer to create new content/services based on the collected information above so that information can reach users of Refugee.Info platforms and reduce gap of access to information. - Research and create written, photo and video content for Refugee.Info pages, social media, as assigned by Refugee.Info Editorial and Communications Manager and Refugee.Info Program Manager. - Regularly pitch ideas for new content and content updates to Editorial Manager. - Manage and enter content for the Refugee.Info site into content management systems. - Work with moderators and their supervisor to ensure timely and accurate translations of content.

Team Collaboration:

- Spearhead the efforts of Refugee.Info team to reach out to digital communities by asylum seekers/refugees to create synergies and collaboration in exchanging information and content. Research for new online and offline collaboration opportunities, pitch content and maintain the relationship. - Undertake field visits in various locations around Attica with other program staff members or in a single unit basis to expand the network of Refugee.Info, increase its footprint across the refugee/asylum seekers community and identify informational needs. - Grow and maintain relationships with a network of actors on the mainland and islands regarding relevant updates/information for content production both in structured settings (i.e., working groups, committee meetings, etc.) and on an ad-hoc basis (local initiatives, grassroots groups, etc.) and co-develop content with the Editorial Manager relevant to the key points that are pertinent to the informational needs of Refugee.Info target audience. - Collaborate with the Editorial Manager to ensure consistency in information presented across all Refugee.Info platforms. - Work with editorial team to ensure that content is aligned with the content strategy and appropriate for publication. - Use social media tools, content management systems and other communication platforms to coordinate the information dissemination with other members of the editorial team and externally. - Participate in all editorial team meetings, workshops, strategy sessions, regular communications, etc., as established by the Refugee.Info Editorial and Communications Manager and the Refugee.Info Program Manager.

The ideal Field Editor – Digital Communities Officer is extremely proactive, detail-oriented and organized. S/he values accurate and error-free reporting. S/he is self-directed and reliably completes tasks. S/he is diplomatic and able to work with a range of peers to gather and verify information. S/he is social media and tech-savvy and quick to learn new tools. S/he has good understanding of the context that asylum seekers/refugees face in Greece. S/he is good in networking and is familiar with the humanitarian ecosystem in Greece. S/he has a strong commitment to teamwork and accountability and regularly seeks opportunities for collaboration and thrives in evolving and ambiguous environments. S/he has experience working in the field and conducting outreach/info sessions and focus group discussions (FGDs).

Qualifications

- BA/BS or equivalent experience in journalism, communications or other relevant field - 2 years of reporting, writing and editing experience, including for online platforms and social media. - Good knowledge of social media platforms. Familiarity with Facebook management page and analytics tools. - Video production and photo skills will be considered as an advantage. - Excellent oral and written English skills required; Greek strongly desired. - Native speakers of Arabic, Dari/Farsi, Urdu and/or Pashto encouraged to apply. - High level of tolerance for ambiguity. - Ability to learn quickly and proactively seek out information, assess trends/developments, and build relationships across diverse actors and contexts. - Ability to work well both within a team and independently, in a challenging, fast-paced, multicultural environment. - Ability to adapt journalistic ethics to a humanitarian context. - Familiarity with humanitarian principles; familiarity with refugee and migration issues in Europe. - Ability to work in the field for extended hours, regardless of the elements. - Driver’s license.
