Under the supervision of Finance Specialist, the Finance Assistant will support finance/accounting area such as advance request, payment, financial review, and financial reporting. Duration of contract will be for 364 days.

How can you make a difference?

The incumbent will perform following tasks:

Treasury and cash management:

- Support the operations and management of bank accounts, petty and cash in accordance with UNICEF / UN financial rules and regulations and local banking practices and keep the supervisor and relevant colleagues informed of any timely action.

- Collect and verify information for forecasts of periodic cash flow requirements to ensure sufficient availability of resources for programs and operational activities.

Payment processing:

- Collect and verify information for review of Direct Cash Transfer (DCT) payment to Implementing Partners (IPs) including liquidation and refund and non DCT payments including calculation and payment of overtime and salaries, allowances, travel allowances, and other payments to staff, consultants, vendors, and other applicants.

- Upload electronic files to destination system.

- Responds to client transaction status and other queries as needed.

Participates in a variety of tasks such as the following:

- Assist in the review of monthly and year-end accounts closing such as accounts receivable, accounts payable, prepayment, General Ledgers (GL) open items, etc.

- Assist in the effective implementation of Harmonized Approach to Cash Transfers (HACT) assurance activities.

- Maintain hard and electronic files and update data base systems ensuring timely and appropriate recording, safekeeping and disposal of confidential information.

- Performs other duties as required.

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…

- Completion of secondary education is required, with professional / university level courses in accounting and finance /business administration considered an asset.

- A minimum of 4 years of relevant administrative experience in finance and accounting is required.

- Understanding of development and humanitarian work is an advantage.

- Having knowledge in IPSAS and/or IFRS is an asset.

- Experience using MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and ability to use finance/accounting related modules within UNICEF ERP system.

- Demonstrated understanding of the relevant finance/accounting processes and ability to consistently apply relevant policies, procedures and good practices in the daily work.

- Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with clients and colleagues and gain the assistance and cooperation of others.

- Ability to establish priorities and plan his/her own work and plan.

- Good working knowledge in English and Bahasa Indonesia.
