Danish Refugee Council, one of the world’s leading humanitarian NGOs, is currently looking for a qualified and motivated Explosive Ordnance Risk Education (EORE) Facilitator who will provide regular support to the Team Leader, organize and conduct EORE sessions in area of operation (communities) in order to raise awareness of the dangers posed by Explosive Hazards (including mines, Explosive Remnants of War (ERW) and other explosive objects/devises), to reduce the risk of injury from Explosive Ordnance by raising awareness of women, girls, boys and men in accordance with their different vulnerabilities, roles and needs, and promoting behavioral change and to reduce the number of accidents caused by these hazards.

The Danish Refugee Council (DRC) is a leading protection agency with a mandate to promote and protect durable solutions to conflict and displacement-affected populations on the basis of humanitarian principles and human rights. DRC is implementing a multi-sector response to support Ukraine refugees, IDPs, and host populations both within Ukraine and in the neighboring countries of Poland, Romania and Moldova, and wider Europe. Since late February 2022, nearly 4 million Ukrainians and third-country nationals have crossed the border to Poland. As part of its neighboring country response, DRC is establishing an operational presence in Poland to support displaced populations through direct implementation, partnership with civil society organizations and national NGOs, duty bearers, and other actors.

About the Job

The general role of the Explosive Ordnance Risk Education (EORE ) Facilitator/Assistant will be to organize and conduct EORE sessions in area of operation (communities) to raise awareness of the dangers posed by Explosive Hazards, promote behavioral change and reduce the number of accidents caused by these hazards.

Under the general guidance and coordination of the EORE Programme Manager and the immediate supervision of the EORE Team Leader, the EORE Facilitator will be tasked and responsible for:

• Providing EORE sessions in area of operation (communities), with a focus on returnees (refugees), and taking into account religion, background, age, sex, education, and other considerations.
• Functioning as an interviewer during assessments of targeted areas (communities) and/or locations.
• Providing support to the EORE Team Leader and Team members on the Project implementation and focusing on EORE sessions in communities, accommodation centers and locations in accordance with Project objectives.
• Supporting the development of the EORE and mine-awareness training package to raise awareness about the risks associated with Explosive Hazards (Explosive Ordnance).
• Functioning as data collector in targeted areas, communities and/or locations.
• Ensure that the information specific to the area has been verified and provided by the EORE Team Leader/EORE Programme Manager before visiting locations, areas or/and communities.
• Obtaining (if available) all appropriate survey data from EORE Team Leader / EORE Programme Manager, official government bodies (Government /Police/Military/Other) and/or community liaison/coordinator.
• Keeping records of daily, weekly, and monthly activities, ensuring the provision of updated information on EORE sessions (activities) conducted and planned activities.
• Reporting progress daily to the Team Leader and contribute to the reporting.
• Establishing and maintaining liaison with local authorities and the community (accommodations centers).
• Maintaining good discipline within the team and coordinate duties/tasks with other colleagues.
• Be responsible for equipment and EORE training materials condition and quantities designated for the team.
• During the EORE sessions and other specific tasks, ensure the distribution of EORE materials as required, keeping data and records of the distributed materials.
• Undertake any other tasks as assigned by the Team Leader.
• Act as the Team Leader as and when directed.
• Perform other duties as assigned and when required.
• Ensure and maintain the equipment in good condition and report any damage to EORE PM.
• Conduct any other relevant training planned by the organization.

About You

To be successful in this role we expect you to have a minimum of 1 year of relevant, proven work experience within an international humanitarian or development organization in a complex, fast-changing, and volatile context. Moreover, we also expect the following:

• University degree, preferably in education/sociology/social sciences/teaching.
• At least 1 year of relevant work experience within an international humanitarian or development organization.
• Experience in working in complex, fast-changing, and volatile contexts.
• Experience in designing and implementing awareness campaigns for diverse target groups (including men, women, and children).
• Knowledge and/or experience in International Mine Action Standards (IMAS) is desirable.
• Experience working in teaching/education/social work or/and within mine action portfolio is preferable.
• Possession of a valid automobile driving license and the ability to drive using a manual transmission is desirable.
• Experience in mine action, and humanitarian portfolio is preferable.
• Experience in liaising with governmental and local authorities is desirable.
• Good IT skills in Microsoft Office (especially Word, Excel, and Outlook).
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
• Prior experience working with NGOs would be an asset.
• Knowledge of Ukrainian and/or Russian is mandatory.
• Knowledge of the local language is preferable.
• Fluency in English is required.

We Offer

Contract type: National contract

Contract length: 31st December 2023, with the possibility of extension depending on the availability of

funding.

Band: Non-Management, I

Base salary range: from 7505 to 8280 PLN gross per month based on experience

Duty base: 1 in Warsaw, 2 in Krakow (with travel across the country)

Start date: As soon as possible

Number of positions: 3
