Develop and conduct a capacity building programme on social inclusion and integration.
You have:
- An advanced university degree (Master’s or higher) in one of the following fields: international development, human rights, psychology, sociology, international law, or another relevant social field.
- A minimum of 3 years of relevant professional experience in social inclusion, integration interventions and social cohesion.
- Solid experience of conducting high-quality capacity building and training programmes, including developing, planning, implementing and evaluating comprehensive, tailored to the needs of the target group and the requirements of the client trainings.
- Experience in producing high-quality reports and other documents to specified deadlines.
- Proficiency in English and Polish is required. Knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, or Spanish) or a local language is an asset.

Established shortly after the war in Ukraine escalated in February 2022, UNICEF Refugee Response Office in Poland has been working together with civil society and government partners at the local and central levels to strengthen systems, expand and adapt existing services, support policy development, provide technical expertise and capacity building. Two years on, we continue to work together to ensure refugee children and adolescents in Poland continue learning, families stay healthy and safe, and that best interests of all children, including the most vulnerable, are always prioritized in decision-making.
How can you make a difference?
As part of the UNICEF RRO in Poland programme on child protection, this consultant will develop and deliver a capacity building and training programme to representatives of municipalities and NGO from 6 Spilno Hubs on designing, planning and implementing effective interventions for social inclusion and integration of refugee children and their families with the local community and for social cohesion.
The assignment will consist of the following tasks:
Conducting consultations with management and staff of all 6 Spilno Hubs, including representatives of municipalities and NGOs, to get to know the needs, capacity gaps, challenges, expectations, previous experiences, local context and the level of knowledge, skills and experience of Spilno Hubs in designing, planning and implementing activities and projects in the field of social inclusion, integration of refugee children and caregivers and social cohesion.
Development of a capacity building and training programme in the field of social inclusion, integration and social cohesion of refugee children, adolescents and their caregivers and families for all 6 Spilno Hubs in Poland, with a detailed programme, working methods, agenda, objectives, results and training materials. The capacity building and training programme will consist of theoretical knowledge, practical examples, working on case studies, creating exemplary, model activities and will be human rights-based programme. The capacity building and training programme will increase the competences, knowledge and skills of Spilno Hubs teams in specific topics (see full Terms of Reference).
Conducting of a capacity building and training programme in the field of social integration and inclusion of refugee children, adolescents and their caregivers and families and social cohesion for all 6 Spilno Hubs in Poland. The expected duration of the training is 3 days, each day 8 hours, conducted in-person, in Polish language with interpretation to Ukrainian language if needed. The training will be delivered in one of the cities where Spilno Hubs operate (Katowice, Krakow, Lodz, Lublin, Gdynia, Bialystok).
Conducting two group meetings aimed at consulting and supporting Spilno Hubs in designing, planning and implementing activities in the field of social inclusion, integration and social cohesion of refugee children and their caregivers, including enabling and facilitating the process of exchanging experiences, good practices, mutual learning, talking about challenges and possible solutions, needs, experiences, lessons learned, etc.
Preparation of a report summarising the entire process of preparing and conducting the capacity building and training program, including evaluation findings and reports, detailed outline of the training programmes, as well as conclusions, lessons learned, final outputs, and recommendations for the future, regarding the needs and challenges in the field of integration, social inclusion and social cohesion of refugee children and their caregivers, as well as further training needs and strengthening of knowledge and competences among Spilno Hubs in this area.
When engaging with municipal representatives where Spilno Hubs operate, with NGOs managing the Hubs, the consultant will ensure coordination with the designated UNICEF focal point at all stages.

Individuals engaged under a consultancy or individual contract will not be considered “staff members” under the Staff Regulations and Rules of the United Nations and UNICEF’s policies and procedures, and will not be entitled to benefits provided therein (such as leave entitlements and medical insurance coverage). Their conditions of service will be governed by their contract and the General Conditions of Contracts for the Services of Consultants and Individual Contractors. Consultants and individual contractors are responsible for determining their tax liabilities and for the payment of any taxes and/or duties, in accordance with local or other applicable laws.
The selected candidate is solely responsible to ensure that the visa (applicable) and health insurance required to perform the duties of the contract are valid for the entire period of the contract. Selected candidates are subject to confirmation of fully-vaccinated status against SARS-CoV-2 (Covid-19) with a World Health Organization (WHO)-endorsed vaccine, which must be met prior to taking up the assignment.
