Duties and Responsibilities Background: UNDRR has been mandated to support the monitoring of the implementation of the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction 2015 - 2030. To fulfil this mandate UNDRR has developed a web-based online system, the Sendai Framework Monitoring (SFM) System to enable self-reporting by Member States on the progress of the seven (7) global targets of the Sendai Framework, which was launched on the 1 March 2018 and a set of custom targets and indicators that will support the monitoring of the national and local DRR strategies as articulated under Target E of the Framework. In order to facilitate the usage of the SFM system by Member States, UNDRR is translating the same from English to the other official UN languages.

The main duties and responsibilities of the contractor will involve translation of the following materials: - Regular information from five countries of Central Asia, for the UNDRR ROECA bulletin (10,000 words) - Regular translation for Russian-language page for the MCR website, and translation of materials from CA region into English for MCR website (10,000 words) - Workshop and methodology materials to support developing establishment of disaster loss data accounting systems and database (20,000 words) - Words Into Action series – Developing national DRR strategies and urban resilience (20,000 words) - Regional statements, reports, conference documents for Central Asia Forums, EFDRR (20,000 words) - Any other materials identified during the assignment in support of implementation of DEVCO CAI (20,000 words)

Qualifications/special skills Academic Qualifications : A first-level university degree in languages, translation, or any other fields related to the subjects of the documents to be translated is required.

Experience : At least 3 (three) years of experience in translating documents from English into Russian and Russian into English is required.

Language : Fluency in English and Russian languages is required.
