Call for Emergency Employment - Emergency Distribution Assistant

Danish Refugee Council, one of the world’s leading humanitarian NGOs, is currently looking for emergency employee as Emergency Distribution Assistant.

About the Job

The Emergency Distribution Assistant will support the Emergency Team through direct implementation of field activities, including planning and delivering assistance through in kind and voucher/cash assistance distributions in the affected areas of the Türkiye Earthquake. This role will include identifying and verifying beneficiaries and their needs as well as monitoring the effective and accountable delivery of emergency assistance.

These activities will focus around multi-sector, life-saving interventions during acute crisis within the areas protection, shelter and non-food items, water, sanitation and hygiene and food security through different assistance modalities (in kind, cash, voucher or a combination). They will cover all stages of project cycle management from programme design to implementation and monitoring and evaluation.

This role has an area focus and ensures compliance to DRC procedures and guidelines within the area. The role contributes to the development of area strategies, which are translated into action plans and day-to-day tasks.

Provides administrative support within sector area as per sector deliverables.

Duties and Responsibilities****:

Programming & Operations

  • Participate in various field assessments, surveys, needs assessments, market assessment and monitoring, and other data collection to guide programming;
  • Support during the beneficiary identification, assessment and selection processes as directed by the Manager;
  • Support the implementation and field delivery of emergency activities, including cash and voucher programming, in accordance with DRC guidelines, program objectives and accountability principles;
  • Ensure equal participation by all segments of the community, taking into consideration issues regarding gender, age, clan, tribal and religious affiliations;
  • Support in the filing of all means of verification related to the distribution of cash and vouchers and in kind distributions.
  • Support in the preparation and operationalisation of distributions;
  • Ensure upholding of humanitarian principles

Monitoring and Evaluation

  • Support Programme and MEAL teams in data collection for MEAL purposes, including market, price monitoring;
  • Participate in after action reviews and learnings to improve programming.

Logistics/Finance

  • Support as required by the Manager in the procurement of emergency supplies or financial service providers and with the logistics and movements of staff from and to different operational areas
  • Undertake any further duties as the line manager sees fit. The position duties are flexible to a degree to allow the candidate to develop skills they personally identify. This can be arranged in discussions with the line manager.

About you

To be successful in this role, you must have a relevant degree/Diploma in economics, agriculture, social sciences, community development and mobilization, civil engineering, geography, international relations or another relevant field.

Moreover, we also expect the following:

Required qualifications

  • Minimum 1 years of practical experience in sector area working for an NGO or similar organisation
  • Field experience in the Area
  • Experience working with Cash and Voucher Assistance programming and/ or experience working with in-kind distributions or relevant logistics, supply chain, delivery activities (including in the private sector)
  • Skill in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Fluent Turkish or Arabic
  • Verbal and written English

We offer

Contract length: 3-6 Months

Designation of Duty Station: Antakya

Start date: Immediately

Salary and conditions will be in accordance with Danish Refugee Council’s Terms of Employment for Nationals.
