Purpose of the Job:

The purpose of the Education Data Base officer position is to implement delegated Education project portfolio

The Education Technical Assistant (Data Base) will help the Education Team Leader/Education Officer to properly collect and store the hard and soft data and monitor the status of NRC’s Education Projects in Kunduz province. The aim of NRC’s Education programme is to enable vulnerable, displaced, returnee and host community children and youth have access to quality education in a protective environment.

Accelerated Learning Programme (ALP) and Education in Emergency (EiE) is the main components of Education Projects in target provinces of North Region. And providing opportunities to enrolee out of school’s children to the ALP classes to supporting governmental Hub Schools and strengthen their capacity to host the IDP, Returnee and host community out of school children to continue their Education in upper level.

Caution: This is an Afghan national position.

Generic responsibilities:

  • Ensure adherence with NRC policies, tools, handbooks and guidelines.
  • Implement delegated Education project portfolio according to plan of action.
  • Prepare and develop status reports as required by management.
  • Ensure proper filing of documents.
  • Ensure that projects target beneficiaries most in need, and explore and asses new and better ways to assist.
  • Day to day follow of progress in project implementation.
  • Promote and share ideas for technical improvement.
  • Prepare periodic progress reports and other documents.
  • Liaison and collaborate with relevant local authorities and stakeholders.
  • Promote the rights of IDPs/returnees in line with the advocacy strategy.

Specific responsibilities:

  • Take part in the design, implementation and M&E of the Education in Emergency, and technical components of the projects.
  • Capacity building of Education staff in data collection methods and data base related issues
  • Ensuring accountable data base for Education project according to all the components of project and regular update of date collection.
  • Perform daily data entry of collected data by field staff.
  • Regularly monitor and administer received data collected by Education Officers, Education Assistants.
  • Generate analytical, statistical and data reports from the database (produce statistics with analysis on a monthly basis, respond to ad hoc demands from supervisors or colleagues, support in compiling other Education related reports)
  • Ensure data quality through implementing data management control and procedures (give feedbacks to supervisor also in the monthly report about this aspect);
  • Provide regular advice/ comments for field staff on modifying databases to meet the information needs of project managers and improve the data processing and reporting capacity ensuring to fill gaps through data if any. (share DB with relevant people in office in coordination with Area Office).
  • Prepare, maintain, and update files (electronic and hard copy).
  • Translation of necessary documents and letters.
  • Support Education Team Leader/Education Officer in the implementation of Components of the project.
  • Prepare the MoVs according to the reconciliation delivery requirements.
  • Any other related task assigned by Education Team Leader, Education officer – data base, Education PC/PM/HoO.

  • Previous experience from working in complex and volatile contexts
  • Documented results related to the position’s responsibilities
  • Fluency in English both written and verbal.

Context/ Specific skills, knowledge and experience:

  • At least Two-year Experience of working in similar role in a humanitarian/recovery context.
  • University degree from Education faculty and Computer Since is preferred.
  • Knowledge of the context in Kunduz.
  • Good Knowledge of the local language.
  • Experience in data collection and data base management.
  • Experience in Education in Emergencies is an advantage.
  • Experience in monitoring and evaluation of projects.
