The expected results of UNICEF’s work in Egypt will contribute to national efforts and priorities and the 2030 National Sustainable Development Strategy; as well as the United Nations Partnership for Development Framework.

How can you make a difference?

Under the supervision of the Education Specialist (Level 3), the Education Officer supports the humanitarian coordination and management of the COVID-19 education response in Egypt. The Education Officer provides technical, operational and administrative assistance throughout the programming process for the new ECHO project.

Summary of key functions/accountabilities:

Support to programme development and planning by rsearching and analyzing regional and national political, health, social and economic development trends. Collect, analyze, verify, and synthesize information to facilitate programme development, design and preparation.

Contribute to the development/establishment of sectoral programme. Provide technical and administrative support throughout all stages of programming processes. Prepare required documentations and materials to facilitate the programme review and approval process.

Programme management, monitoring and delivery of results through working closely and collaboratively with internal colleagues and partners. Working on reports to alert appropriate officials and stakeholders for higher-level intervention and/or decisions. Monitor and report on the use of sectoral programme resources. Report on issues identified to ensure timely resolution by management/stakeholders.

Technical and operational support to programme implementation by undertaking field visits and surveys and share information with stakeholders to assess progress. Providing technical and operational support to government counterparts, NGO partners, UN system partners on the application and understanding of UNICEF policies, strategies, processes and best practices on water, sanitation, hygiene and related issues to support programme implementation, operations and delivery of results.

Networking and partnership building through building and sustaining effective close working partnerships with government counterparts and national stakeholders, as well as drafting communication and information materials for CO programme advocacy to promote awareness, establish partnerships and alliances, and support fund raising for education programmes.

Research information on potential donors and prepare resource mobilization materials and briefs.

Apply innovative approaches and promote good practices, as well as Researching, benchmark and report on best and cutting-edge practices for development planning of knowledge products and systems.

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…

- A university degree in one of the following fields is required: education, psychology, sociology, or another relevant technical field.

-A minimum of one year of professional experience in programme planning, management, and/or research in education is required.

- Experience working with refugees and migrants is required.

-Fluency in English and Arabic is required.
