Contract
This is a UNV National University contract. This kind of contract is known as National UN Volunteer. It is normally only for nationals. More about UNV National University contracts.
Education is one of the key programmatic work areas of UNICEF Romania, with the goal to strengthen education systems and create more equitable access and participation in quality pre-university education for all children, particularly Roma children and those living with disabilities. This work will include providing technical assistance for (i) strengthening systems to provide access to and participation in quality and inclusive education for all children in pre-university education; (ii) developing instruments and methodologies to reduce and prevent segregation in the education system; (iii) developing policies and services for early childhood education and care; (iv) reviewing and developing the curriculum to strengthen competence in twenty-first century skills; (v) developing policies and services for parenting education and counselling to support positive parenting and gender socialization; (vi) strengthening equitable, adequate and efficient financing of pre-university education; and (vii) ensuring gender equality in transition from lower secondary to higher levels of education.
The selected UNV will have the role of providing day-to-day support to the education team activities, including, but not limited to, technical, research and/or reporting support for the projects implemented by UNICEF under the sectoral focus of education and ECEC.
Under the direct supervision of the Education Specialist, the Education Administrative Assistant will: - Data Collection and Analysis: Help UNICEF education team with gathering and analysing data at national and European levels in education, gathering data to assess the impact of educational projects and identify areas for improvement. - Training and Capacity Building: Support the education team in preparing & conducting training sessions for a broad array of education stakeholders. - Advocacy and Awareness: Help the education team with the organization and implementation of different advocacy and awareness raising campaigns. - Resource Development: Assist the education team in creating and distributing educational materials and resources to support the implementation of the educational projects. - Reporting and Documentation: Preparing reports and documentation to track project progress and outcomes. - Any other related tasks as may be required or assigned by the supervisor.
Results/Expected Outputs: - As an active UNICEF team member, efficient, timely, responsive, beneficiary-friendly, and high-quality support provided to our interventions in the accomplishment of her/his function. - Regular updates on the progress of project activities, highlighting milestones achieved and any challenges encountered. - In-depth reports analyzing the collected data, identifying trends, and providing actionable insights. - Education events and activities are supported, ensuring the full implementation of UNICEF Child Safeguarding rules and principles. - Timely documents are being drafted and leveraged to influence policy and decision-making.

- Strong computer skills (i.e., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, social media, and others);

- High School diploma (Diplomă de Bacalaureat) in one of the following educational tracks – theoretical or vocational high-school and enrolled in university;
- Skills in education and experience in leading or contributing to education initiatives (ante-preschool preschool, primary and secondary education);
- Ability to mobilize and understand different partners in Romania, and be familiar with the characteristics, sensitivities, and dynamics of the different communities in Romania;
- Good research and synthetisation skills;
- Familiarity with the education system in Romania and its challenges;
- Show interest for the mandate of UNICEF, more specifically the promotion of children’s rights;
- Motivated to contribute towards peace and development and to serve others;
- Willingness to contribute and work as part of a team;
- Flexible and open to learning and new experiences;

The National UN University Volunteer entitlements and allowances:
Monthly Living Allowance: apx RON 4202 Entry lump sum (one-time payment): USD 400 Exit allowance: apx. RON 583.66 for each month served, paid on completion of the contract.
Please note that the amounts can vary according to fluctuations in the exchange rates.
The purpose of the allowances and entitlements paid to UN Volunteers is to enable UN Volunteers to sustain a secure standard of living at the duty stations in line with United Nations standards without incurring personal costs. The allowances are in no way to be understood as compensation, reward, or salary in exchange for the UN Volunteer’s service.
Medical and life insurance: • Medical insurance: The UN Volunteer will receive UNV-provided medical insurance coverage. Coverage for UN Volunteers begins from the commencement of service and normally ceases one month after the last day of the UN Volunteer contract date. • Life Insurance: UN Volunteers are covered by life insurance for the duration of the UN Volunteer assignment.
Leave entitlements: • Annual Leave: UN Volunteers accrue an entitlement to 2.5 days of Annual Leave per completed month of the UN Volunteer assignment. Unused accrued Annual Leave up to a maximum of 30 days is carried over in case of a contract extension within the same UN Volunteer assignment. • Learning Leave: Subject to supervisor approval and exigencies of service, UN Volunteers may request up to ten working days of Learning Leave per consecutive 12 months of the UN Volunteer assignment, starting with the Commencement of Service date, provided the Learning Leave is used within the contract period. Access to UNV's learning and career development resources is provided. • Certified Sick Leave: UN Volunteers are entitled to up to 30 days of certified sick leave based on a 12-month cycle. This amount is reset every 12-month cycle. • Uncertified Sick Leave: UN Volunteers receive 7 days of uncertified sick leave working days in a calendar year.
