Duties and Responsibilities Through ESCAP Resolution (E/ESCAP/RES/72/6) on "Committing to the effective implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development in Asia and the Pacific" member States have requested ESCAP’s support in promoting the balanced integration of the three dimensions of sustainable development and in providing annual updates and recommendations to member States. The resolution also calls for ESCAP to develop a regional road map for implementing the 2030 Agenda and to address challenges to its achievement in Asia and the Pacific. The support is provided, among other modalities, through the provision of opportunities for a regional and sub-regional dialogue on SDG implementation such as the Asia-Pacific Forum on Sustainable Development (APFSD); and the development of knowledge products to track progress and support stakeholders' engagement.

As part of ESCAP’s role in supporting SDG implementation in the region, ESCAP Statistics Division (SD) has developed statistical methods and tools to assess progress at the regional and sub-regional levels. The ESCAP-developed methodology is used to support the production of the annual Asia and the Pacific SDG Progress Report.

As part of the preparation for the 2023 Asia and the Pacific SDG Progress Report, SD is seeking the support of an external contractor to provide drafting, editing and communication support to the SDG report team. The contractor will consolidate inputs from drafters from ESCAP and international agencies and edits the report following ESCAP’s editorial guidelines. When necessary, the editor will provide advice on messaging and effective communication of the report’s findings. The deliverables are as follows: 1) Draft the first chapter on regional SDG progress based on inputs provided and in consultation with ESCAP Statistics Division. 2) Consolidate inputs and drafts provided by other UN agencies for chapters 2 and 3 of the report. 3) Draft foreword and executive summary of the report, capturing the key messages proposed by ESCAP. 4) Edit the entire report, reflecting all comments received from drafters, senior management team, and the editorial board.

Outputs to be developed by the contractor are to be used as input to the 2023 APFSD and the 2023 session of the ESCAP Commission.
