Serve as the Youth Focal Point (YFP) for the UNESCO Ramallah Office. The overall role and function of YFP will be to support the Office in the implementation of youth-focused and youth-relevant projects and programmes in line with the UNESCO Operational Strategy on Youth (OSY 2014-2021), notably through operationalization, coordination and awareness-raising functions; as well as to support meaningful engagement, exchange and partnerships with young people and their structures. In particular, the YFP will act as the main resource person on Youth within the office, and will as necessary: - Develop, monitor and evaluate needs-driven youth-focused initiatives and mainstream youth in existing initiatives in the area of expertise implemented by the UNESCO Ramallah Office, in line with the OSY and capitalizing on existing resources and taking stock of potential for resource mobilization. - Provide assistance and technical backstopping to colleagues in the office to implement, monitor and evaluate needs-driven youth-focused initiatives and to mainstream youth, in line with the OSY, capitalizing on existing resources and taking stock of potential for resource mobilization. - Support the development of external partnerships with relevant young people and youth-led structures around UNESCO’s work, in close cooperation with the Resource Mobilization Officer promoting youth-to-youth cooperation around UNESCO Ramallah activities. - Carry out quality assurance of meaningful youth engagement in Youth-relevant workplans of the Office and provide technical backstopping on youth engagement, as needed. - Advocate UNESCO’s approach and work on youth, in line with the tenets of the OSY, among development stakeholders in Palestine – including within the UN youth Task Group of UN country teams. - Report regulalry to the Head of Office, colleagues/managers within Ramallah Office and HQ Youth and Sport Section (YSS) under the Social and Human Sciences Sector (SHS) on the Office's youth work (template and modalities to be determined), information and knowledge shared within the Network and/or by SHS/YSS on youth issues, on the implementation of the OSY, as well as any other developments relevant to UNESCO's work on youth. Provide support to the Education Unit in the implementation of the COVID-19 response plans and SDG4 on quality education in Palestine through different activities, especially related to youth: - Support the implementation of youth related education activities, including the distance learning and healthy lifestyle and psychosocial support activities in schools. - Compile, consolidate and prepare reports, papers, concept notes, briefs, letters, presentations, and other materials, by finding relevant information and data as well as conducting research and providing drafts and language editing in areas relevant to the Unit. - Support communication and information management activities, including preparing news, website and social media items of the Unit and dissemination of videos, vines and online game on healthy lifestyles and psychosocial support. - Prepare input into the processes and take meeting minutes of different international and local education meetings. - Contribute to the responses of the Unit upon official requests and correspondence from different sources, including UNESCO Headquarters, Regional office and institutes as well as international agencies, government organizations, education institutions, civil society, and private sector. - Assist in preparing fundraising proposals and liaising with diverse partners involved in various projects and activities, including from UNESCO, the government, international agencies, private sector and civil society. - Coordinate with national partners to design and implement different education activities dedicated to UN days concerning education. - Support activities related to inter-sectorial initiatives with the Culture Unit.
